Henna, massage and acupuncture

Hi,

As I come closer and closer to doing this diet fully, I am curious about a few

things along the way.

First, I have been coloring my hair with organic henna and indigo and am

wondering if this is a problem while on the diet. I have MCS (multiple chemical

sensitivities) and found out about 5 years go that the henna and indigo can give

me a nice dark brown color that covers my gray hair nicely and naturally. While

steeping the henna overnight, I add hot lemon juice, which draws out the tannins

and subsequently makes the color more accessible.

I have been getting itchiness and flaking on my scalp lately, but am thinking it

is die-off symptoms as I reduce my carbs, and not related to the coloring

agents. I am using natural, unscented shampoo and conditioner. Also, I live in

Massachusetts, and it's been COLD, so I am thinking the cold dry air is also

contributing to this condition.

Second question relates to receiving bodywork, including acupuncture and

massage. Is this okay while starting the diet, or will it add too much detoxing,

and be too much burden to our bodies?

Thanks in advance,

Deb

+++Hi Deb. It is better to not use anything to color your hair, but I

understand how difficult that would be. I finally stopped coloring my hair when

I was 54 years old, and its the best thing I ever did. In fact I got more

compliments on my hair when it was " au naturale. " lol! What you are using is

still toxic to some degree but it is better than regular hair dye. You have to

pick your battles in that regard.

+++What contributes most to that condition is toxins which are coming out

through that area, and healing comes from within.

+++It is okay to have some accupuncture and massages, but they can be overdone.

Accupuncture wouldn't make you detoxify more since it has a different purpose.

Massages may increase detoxification, depending upon how strong they are done,

and how often. However healing comes from within so proper nutrients are so

much more important.

All the best, Bee
