Guest guest
Due to the nature of my physical disability, it is imperative that I get some type of mild exercise. I've found that water therapy works wonders for me because it allows me to do movements that I can't do on land. However, two years ago, I started to get severe reactions after being in a pool. I would get burning pain in the private area, and it would sometimes cause an infection or at least a discharge. This had never happened to me before. The burning was so painful that it was counterproductive for me to be in the water because I'd have an irritation for at least a week afterward. I'd tried doing a lot of research on what I could do to protect my private area when I was doing water therapy. I'd emailed ob/gyn to see if there was something I could wear to block the water, or a substance that I could put on myself as a barrier from the water. I realize it is quite an odd question, so I was unable to find any answers. I'd even bought waterproof pants with tight gaskets around the ankles and waist, which did not turn out to be waterproof after all. Unfortunately, I had to give up my water exercises two years ago and my body has suffered terribly since - I'm underweight and have barely any muscle. I tried to go in the water once during that time, and suffered again with what I described above. Now my organs are not functioning properly and it is because I am laying down most of the day and not exercising. I may have to take some serious drugs or have surguries to get my stomach working properly. I would prefer to do this the natural way and exercise. When faced with the alternative, I am ready to get to the pool immediately, but I just have to ask - is there anything I can do to prevent this burning from happening? Or something I can put on immediately after I'm out of the water? Should I use one of the recommended douches before/after swimming? I wouldn't be able to do it right away since I need to drive to the pool, but I could do it in a short time after, or perhaps bring a bottle to the gym. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have for me.
