Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group. I have suffered through self-diagnosed candida symptoms for many years. In the past I've tried cleanses, but because I have serious gastro intestinal issues I have not been able to tolerate any herbal formulas, let alone prescription ones. [i have GERD, gastritis, and am now being checked for gastroparesis] I've been able to alleviate certain symptoms by avoiding all sugar, sweetener, and yeast in my diet for the past year or two. However, the moment I eat something with yeast, I seem to get a vaginal irritation and discharge, so I know that I must have something systemic. Also, if I have sugar, even fruits, I crash almost immediately from it, which is why I avoid it. The sweetest thing I will eat is carrot juice and even that makes me light headed. I am at a point where there are some serious issues going on with my body and I'm concerned that I may be put on antibiotics or harsh prescription drugs in the near future. My body does not react well to any type of prescription drugs - even the mild ones that are good for my stomach - because of the filler ingredients and dyes. I'm also the type to get side effects that are worse than what I'm being treated for. I also have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, both of which I have refused medicine for. I have a spinal injury that may be damaging my vagus nerve (to my stomach) which may be why I'm developing gastroparesis. Or it could be due to the fact that I've been on and off of proton pump inhibitors which the doctor insists I need for my GERD, but it seems to only help with the reflux but is more trouble than it's worth. One of my immediate family members has Barrett's esphogus so it's really important that I not let the acid get out of hand. Since I have so many things going on, I am not sure how to go about treating it all at once, or doing one condition at a time. Right now I'm severely limited in what I can eat. I was down to only twenty food items that I could tolerate and then they started to bother me a week or two ago, so now I'm on mostly liquids with some solids. So, I'm not sure that I could follow a true Candida diet until I get my stomach working better yet. It's kind of a catch 22 where they want to stop the acid because of my GERD, but if I have gastroparesis then the acid is crucial for getting the food out of my stomach. I should also mention that this has been physically disabling for me. I've been on disability for two years, I'm mostly housebound because nearly all physical activities cause pain for me. I can still walk but not that far, so I think the lack of exercise has really contributed to my lack of stomach function, too. Well, this introduction has been long enough. The short of it is that I'm too complicated for most doctors to deal with. Hopefully I will eventually find help. Nice to meet you.
