Guest guest
Jen, I think most of us are not counting the flax oil in our nutrition counts. Have you tried making your salad dressing with flax oil? That'll get rid of the olive oil (although 1 t is hardly anything). Most days I enjoy 1-1.5 T of flax oil in my dressing. Delicious. I use Good Seasonings shaker jar, with a little 0 calorie chardonnay vinegar... mmmmmm. I will normally hit very low on the fat grams if I don't add my walnut and a few oz of avocado each day. I suppose I could use lowfat cottage cheese instead of fatfree but now I like adding in the fat in a healthy way and I don't notice a taste difference in the cottage cheese... Anyhow, just wanted to explain how some of us could hit the low counts in fat pretty easily. Really though, I'm not too worried it about it now, like you said, you're getting healthy fats. Are you getting results? If you are, then don't worry about reducing it. Probably if you got rid of flax oil in fitday you'd be in the 20-25% range. Guest guest
Best salad dressing for me- Whipped cottage cheese plain or with ranch seasonings. AND I don't like salad dressings? It helps increase the protein too. Guest guest
No results at week 12. I think my carbs and fat are too high and protein's too low. I've gained 3 pounds and 1 inch on my hips and thighs. I also think I am some kind of mutant with a special fat- storing gene. I break all the rules of physics, anatomy, and physiology. Guest guest
Jen, >I also think I am some kind of mutant with a special fat-storing gene. Me too. endomorph, for me. I could survive on a desert island. Same here. I can't suggest too strongly: read the BFFM book by Tom Venuto. It looks daunting but it an easy enjoyable read, and you will find some of the keys to your personal access to results. I have just begun to make changes to my eating, based on his book AND messages here, so too soon for results, but I'm the most confident I've felt in months: 1. eating simpler: I just had cold cottage cheese and the most delicious warm acorn squash for M2 2. Carb- (oops what's it called) when you have more carbs earlier in the day, and less or none after 3pm 3. Calorie cycling: going to eat 1100-1400 Mon Tue Wed, 1800 Thu, 1100-1400 Fri Sat, 2000 max on Sunday... I may change the days, but keep a varied rhythm, with more carbs on the 2 " high " days 4. No sugar until my birthday May 31 ouch... well, none til April 30. 5. A little more cardio after or before HIIT 6. Change my ratio to 25-30 good fat; 30-35 carbs, 40 protein, if I can finagle that each day on fitday let you know what happens. Read his book. Etana C2W8D5 From: " Jen " <jsv5765@... Guest guest
If your arms are getting nice and muscular, your hips and thighs probably are too. That's great if you're also losing fat, but if your calories are still too high, the overall effect is that you just start feeling bigger. I don't know if you saw the thing I posted a couple of days ago about doing an accidental bulking cycle. If you're running a little high in calories, fat, and carbs, that would explain it. Once you get the nutrients balanced a little better and get the calorie deficit happening, you should start getting smaller and leaner pretty quickly. Some healthy fat is good, but if the fat is consistently pushing your calories too high it will slow your results. Also, fat has the least metabolic effect. It can be stored as body fat without anything happening. Where if you were high on protein or fibrous carbs, your body has to do a lot of work (burn a lot of calories) in order to digest those, so those calories are more likely to be burned and less likely to be stored. You might try eating more high-protein, high-fiber foods and backing off a little bit on simple carbs and healthy fats. See if maybe that turns things around for you. Hang in there! It sounds like you have some killer arms ready to reveal themselves for summer. > No results at week 12. I think my carbs and fat are too high and > protein's too low. Guest guest
I'm going to get BFFM. Thanks for recommending it. Those tweaks are something for me to consider also. Guest guest
Between starting birth control pills, creatine, and building some muscle, I am starting to feel like a real moose! And that Venuto ecto/meso/endo quiz just told me I'm a mesmorph! I think I have been in an accidental bulking cycle too. Between adjusting my ratios, backing off on the really heavy weights, and zig-zagging calories, I think this will work. And I'm getting the BFFM book. Thanks. > > No results at week 12. Guest guest
Hi , Fat will slow the absorption of any food that you eat. As an example if you were to mix blend orange juice with cashews it would slow the absorption of the orange juice, which would normally be absorbed quite quickly. It will not block the absorption. It will just take longer to be digested and absorbed. When eating foods that are high on the glycemic index it makes sense to have them with a fat. This will alter the effect it would have if it were eaten by itself. Of course anyone doing Bee's program would not be eating those foods anyway. Hope that helps.
