Guest guest
Hi, I have been experiencing a bloody nose or two every week for the last month. They are quite profuse and take a long time to stop. I have read that Vitamin E is an antagonist of vitamin K, and as such, it tends to thin the blood. I have been taking two of the recommended vitamin E 400 IU for hot flashes from menopause (which are better by the way) and wonder if this could be the cause of the bloody noses? I have been taking two a day for about six months. I am not retracing since I am 50 years old and had one bloody nose in my whole life when I was 13 when a softball hit my nose. So what would be the best course? I have been off vit. E this week and so far no bloody noses but I don't want the hot flashes to come back either. On a positive note, both my husband and I have noticed we don't have the usual cracked fingers that we experience this time of year. It didn't dawn on us until we were at a family gathering and everyone was putting Krazy Glue on their cracked fingers! We are sure the high fat diet has played a part in this and are thankful to NOT have this problem this year! Shari

Experiment by taking 200 IU vitamin E 2 times a day, and see if after 3 days you still get nose bleeds. +++Also review your omega 3, vitamins A & D, to ensure you are not taking too much. Also lots of garlic and foods in the onion family also cause the blood to thing, so everything in moderation is the key. +++In fact review all of your supplements and only take the amounts recommended. +++Are you taking any other supplements than I recommend? Also are you drinking tea, and if so what kind and how much? +++Ensure you are getting at least 1 1/2 tsp of ocean sea salt per day too, since all nutrients work together. +++Have you ever had an injury to your face, been hit or punched, etc.? > > On a positive note, both my husband and I have noticed we don't have the usual cracked fingers that we experience this time of year.
