If he is doing a lot of exercising (soccer, basketball, etc), he may just be doing what's natural like growing pains. It was not unusual at all for kids playing football or wrestling etc. to get bloody noses just from excursion. I saw the same thing with my brothers, sisters, and my own children. Guest guest
We've never seen a post about a bloody nose related to being on Valtrex or coming off of Valrex. There are 2900+ references in the medical literature about nosebleeds but none relating to Valtrex or herpes. It's a very strange report. I can't even speculate. - Stan > > Drew is not on the nasal spray but taking MB-12 injections instead. > He had a bloody nose two nights in a row. Guest guest
You're just the second report we've seen, so I don't think it is a large portion of the community.... That said, I would start with diet first. Even my dad who had daily nose bleeds near the end of his life from Leukemia, even his nose stopped bleeding once I got his diet straightened out. My nose would bleed a little every time I blew it when my gut was in bad shape. It's been 2+ years since the last time. The connection, IMO, is the immune system response to complex foods... carbs, wheat, and the associated fungus, etc. - Stan > > > > > > Drew is not on the nasal spray but taking MB-12 injections instead. > > > He had a bloody nose two nights in a row. Guest guest
Stan, While you were gone there were a couple other reports of nosebleeds including my son’s. I had attributed it to a day on the dusty baseball field. The only thing I did differently that day was try to add L-Lysine (and the smallest amount). I threw the lysine away and he hasn’t had another one since even though we’ve had many dusty baseball games. There has been some mention about not doing amino acids during OLE but I didn’t follow that thread too thoroughly. I wonder if the kids experiencing nose bleeds are on amino acids as well as Valtrex. Just a thought. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of Stan Kurtz Sent: Tuesday, July 04, 2006 5:48 PM mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: Bloody nose You're just the second report we've seen, so I don't think it is a large portion of the community.... Guest guest
Hmm... Call me crazy, but I'd love to see another trial of L-Lysine to see if you could duplicate that.... but I'm not saying you should... but a part of me is totally curious.... and another part of me... well you get the idea. Guest guest
Stan, I don’t think I want to test it on CJ again. It freaked me out enough the 1st time. It would be another story to try it on myself. This was the ONLY time in his life he has ever had a nose bleed. It was a pool of blood to boot!! I did a search of my archives because I remember another person on this list realized it was taurine that was contributing to her grandson’s bloody noses. Also when I did the search many posts about bloody noses came up from the LDN sight and one Mom had said on another sight someone mentioned that vitamin K would help nose bleeds and that her child didn’t have any more after introducing vitamin K. So….anecdotal I know, but I learn more from parents than anywhere else. Taurine is obviously pointing to another amino issue. Maybe vitamin K is another thing people could try if their child is getting nose bleeds. LDN and Valtrex I know work differently, but there seems to be many correlations between symptoms and other issues. Maybe working on latent viruses plus amino acids causes a vitamin K deficiency or an increase need for it. I also read somewhere a long the line that vitamin K might help toe walking. Someday maybe we’ll figure out all of the parallels. - From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ] On Behalf Of Stan Kurtz Sent: Tuesday, July 04, 2006 7:54 PM mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: Bloody nose Hmm... Guest guest
We have had a nose bleeding boy for a few years possibly triggered by allergy. So far, our latest most effective help is from vitamin K (pretty highly concentrated oil, taking orally by drops) that was suggested by our Dan Dr. I guess it makes sense since our kids' guts probably have problem absorbing things including vitamin K. Guest guest
Hmmm I recently started my son on taurine and he has started getting this blood speckled mucus when he blows his nose. Guess its time to back off on the mgs too. Thank you, had read this before but had forgotten. Guest guest
I read the subsequent posts after I answered this. My son's gum was bleeding today as well during brushing, seemed a bit swollen to me. I was thinking that the fish oils he is getting might be thinning the blood and making him more susceptible to the bleeding too. Maybe I need to back off on those as well, bumps on face (EFA deficiency according to DAN doc) notwithstanding.
