Guest guest
Hi , It's better to have fresh tomatoes. Here's what Bee wrote in Message #66031 about canned foods: +++ Canned foods aren't good to have for 2 reasons: 1) most canned foods contain mold, and 2) the inside of the cans are coated with chemicals that leach into the foods: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/04/bpa-danger-from-cans.php Dangers of Bisphenol A (BPA) From canned food According to the FDA, 17% of the American diet comes out of cans, and many of those have an epoxy liner made with Bisphenol A, a chemical which can mimic human estrogen and which is linked to breast cancer and early puberty in women. While the leaching of BPA from Nalgene water bottles and other polycarbonate bottles is a concern, the danger from canned food may be greater. The Environmental Working Group tested canned food bought across America and found BPA in more than half of them, at levels they call " 200 times the government's traditional safe level of exposure for industrial chemicals. " There are no standards for BPA; it is allowed to be put in anything, and billions of pounds are produced each year. There are recipes to make your own tomato paste, sauce and cooked tomatoes on my website. *** I would suggest making your own. (Group Moderator) > > Hi Bee, > > I just started your program. I followed the recipe and used a 28 ounce can of crushed tomatoes. It did not have any citric acid, just tomatoes. Is that okay to use? I only buy canned tomatoes without citric acid. Please tell me that's okay, because my hubby loved that dinner! > >

Guest guest
So if I can find canned tomatoes or tomato paste without citric acid, I can use them? I've read about canned tomatoes being bad. Sorry I just really want to clarify! Thanks! > > > > Hi Bee, > > > > I just started your program. Sorry I just really want to clarify! +++Hi . Canned foods aren't ideal because they line cans with chemicals, even if there is no citric acid in them, and a little citric acid isn't horrible but also not ideal. We have to " pick our battles, " and not get too overly concerned about some things. It is better to make that delicious recipe than to get too detailed about some things. You are going to detoxify more and more effectively as you continue on this program. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Thank you Bee! I'm a bit of a perfectionist. But stressing out over little details won't help me get better any quicker! > > > > So if I can find canned tomatoes or tomato paste without citric acid, I can use them? > > > > I've read about canned tomatoes being bad.
