Guest guest
Hi , I just wanted to share that my 4 year old son wasn't officially diagnosed with autism, but had had digestive issues (chronic diarrhea for 6 months prior to starting Bee's diet) and attention and agressive issues, wouldn't make eye contact, had a severe speech delay and just 'wasn't right'. He's been on Bee's diet for 17 months and is doing beautifully! His concentration is great and he is affectionate and his aggressive tendancies have decreased immensely! I have had to deal with uninformed doctors this entire time as well since my son goes to daycare and in this country all schools must (by law) provide the children food, so in order to have something different than the standard fare, the children need to have a doctor's note. They, too, have reluctant to recommend the diet and write the 'doctor's note' for my son, but they cannot deny how healthy is. The doctors have taken his blood and have done EEGs on him and they cannot find anything that would indicate that he is unwell. In fact, in addition to the improvements that I've mentioned, he also healed two spots of vitilago on his arms. He's extremely healthy and hasn't had so much as a runny nose and his bowel movements have improved significantly. How old is your daughter and how long has she been on Bee's diet? We didn't put our son 'cold turkey' on the diet, so if your daughter is just starting out, you can gradually take out the goat yogurt and pecan butter. Commercially-made pecan butter would not be properly prepared, so you will need to stay away from it. If you make your own pecan butter with nuts that have been properly soaked, it would be okay in small amounts. Just be aware that nuts can be hard to digest and they can quickly add a lot of carbs. I don't know about your daughter, but my son is a carboholic and I need to be really careful not to give him too much carb because he will crave them like crazy! Anyway, I hope I've said something that gives you the hope and confidence to continue with this diet for your daughter. If you need more support, please feel free to contact me offlist. You're doing a great a job, Mom! Take care, > > hi everyone, > I've recently rejoined the list. my daughter has had severe yeast issues and she sees a DAN doctor because of developmental delays and lots of GI issues. > Her doctor is always telling me I can't restrict my daughter's carbs so heavily. I have been doing it anyway, but I do worry about her nutrition. > I've checked the supplement list and there are a few things I need to tweak, but otherwise she's OK. > She is eating meats, veggies, butter, goat yogurt (which I guess I have to remove) and some pecan butter (I should also remove, right?) > Please reassure me about this diet being safe for her? > Thanks, > >

Welcome back! helped you a lot with your question, but I will add a couple more things to help you feel even more secure that your daughter is getting all of the nutrients necessary for health. 1) Dr. Weston A. Price wrote the fantastic book called Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, which covered 10 years of research with thousands of photos of people he studied in isolated groups all over the World. On page 464 he writes: " We humans have the same rigid restrictions regarding food selection as the simpler forms of life when foods are evaluated from their chemical basis. " On page 415 he writes: " Also, it is not necessary to adopt the foods of any particular racial stock, but only to make our nutrition adequate in all its nutritive factors to the primitive nutrition. Tooth decay is not only unnecessary, but an indication of our divergence from Nature's fundamental laws of life and health. " He studied the Masai Warriors in Africa and found them to be extremely healthy and they didn't consume any carbs - see this: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/foods26.php Carbs are very unnecessary for humans anyway, since all nutrients humans require are found in meats, eggs, and " good " fats. For example, meats and eggs contain vitamin C, which most people do not realize, and our bodies require less vitamin C if we don't consume sugars and high carbs. Here's some carb facts to help you understand: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu3_2_1.php Also the Eskimos Dr. Price studied were very healthy, yet they consumed no carbs and only had meats and good fats - here's an article about them: http://www.biblelife.org/stefansson1.htm Also the ratios of protein to fat to carbs I recommended are exactly the same as Dr. Jan Kwasniewski recommends for his Optimal Diet. He is in Poland and has been curing people of heart disease, diabetes, asthma, obesity, cancer, etc. for over 30 years with his diet: http://homodiet.netfirms.com/ I hope that helps you feel more secure that your daughter will be getting proper nutrition. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Thank you and Bee, I am feeling somewhat more secure about the diet. Help me understand something though, as I am restricting the carbs (reducing nut butter) and I've already taken out fruit, I notice she is losing language? When I gave her some nut butter today for the first time all day, the language started improving? The only other things she was having today were eggs, meat, tomato sauce and veggies and ghee? I feel nervous that by leaving the carbs out I am making her lose language???? Thanks, > > > > hi everyone, > > I've recently rejoined the list. my daughter has had severe yeast issues and she sees a DAN doctor because of developmental delays and lots of GI issues. > > Her doctor is always telling me I can't restrict my daughter's carbs so heavily. When changes are made it takes time for a person's body to adjust, so you cannot say that carbs have anything to do with her language skills. In fact the opposite is true, like 's son, and the other autistic boy. The other boy hadn't spoken at all at 4 years old - this is from her Success Story: " Within two weeks their son [4 years old] spoke his FIRST words and by the end of that month he was talking in complete sentences. Up to that point the boy wasn't saying anything. He was having full blown meltdowns. Now those have stopped. He told it was a miracle. The first two weeks were hell. He said it was like watching a junkie going through withdrawal, but they stuck with it, and now the kid is speaking. He said it was like a door opened and they have their son back. I almost fell off the couch! " Bee
Guest guest
** Hi : I won't speak to your daughter's language issue, as I'm sure Bee or will have good advice. But I did notice that you may be confused as to what carbs are: carbs are anything that is not fat or protein. And many foods have a blend--for example nut butter has both carbs and fats. (In fact: noticing language improve when you gave her nut butter may be linked to her getting good fat not " carbs " .... or it may not be related at all???? Hard to say. See what Bee or make of it.) But I wanted to point out that you are still feeding your daughter carbs as well in the veggies and the tomato sauce. She's not going without carbs and you might rethink attributing any language issues to carbs since she is getting carbs throughout the day. Hope this is helpful to you, Marissa Help me understand something though, as I am restricting the carbs (reducing nut butter) > The only other things she was having today were eggs, meat, tomato sauce and veggies and ghee? >
Guest guest
Hi again : I also wanted to point out that nuts have protein carbs and fat in them... so again, it may be that she is responding to more than the carb component in nuts. How is she liking the egg drink? That's chock full of good fats. Marissa
Guest guest
Hi everyone, thanks for the responses. Her language and cognitive processing improved today even though I am trying to focus more on meats, veggies and ghee. She was doing some other strange things (vocalizing) but I was relieved to see the language and processing improve. Thanks again, PS--Marissa, I can only get her to take small sips of Bee's egg drink, but I am working on it. > > > > Hi again : > > I also wanted to point out that nuts have protein carbs and fat in them... so again, it may be that she is responding to more than the carb component in nuts. Guest guest
** Hey : I'm glad to hear you are seeing some progress. I know it can be difficult to trust this diet when you hear conflicting advice from other sources. But this diet works, and Bee has laboriously outlined all the science that backs it up, so you may get some solace from her work on her website. Also (moderator) is a fantastic resource for you because she has had so much success with her autistic (though very much improved son) on this diet. She's very knowledgeable and supportive, so I encourage you to take her up on her offer to discuss this further with you whenever you get conflicting info or have doubts. Have a great day. Guest guest
Thanks Marissa for the help and encouragement! Today my daughter was so with it and her language was great! The diet is really helping her, I'm so relieved. I just need to keep coming up with new ideas for meals that she will eat. I'm hoping I can do it. She's a tough cookie. Thanks again, > > > ** Hey : > > I'm glad to hear you are seeing some progress. I know it can be difficult to trust this diet when you hear conflicting advice from other sources.
