interstitial cystitis. My MIL has this ad there are meds that can help

it-- acidic foods make it worse-- she can;t eat lemons, strawberries,

cranberry, etc..... she has this stuff that she can take when she eats

something like that thsat helps balance the acid out, but it doesn;t work

THAT well... if she eats too much acidic food, she develops an infection.

Tomato-- she can;t have that-- and she LOVES that-- no tomato sauce-- she's

Italian as am I... it is hard for her.

I don;t know if your daughter has this..but you may want to look into it--

not sure who can get it, etc...

Does anyone know of any possible reasons for bladder pain other than

infection. Cassie keeps complaining of bladder pain upon urination. Ped

did

U/A and came out with lots of white blood cells, but ran culture which

revealed no bacteria growth. Now I am stumped as to the cause of her pain.

It is not an excruciating, just bothersome. We have been doing lots of

fluids (water/cranberry) but she keeps saying it feels " funny to go tee tee.

Any thoughts???

Also, I did not see the last post I did about the side effects of

heparin/dextrose. Does anyone know of any post port flush with

dextrose/heparin side effects? Cassie, upon the last time we flushed her

port, started saying she had a headache and bad leg cramps.

Hope all the sick pumpkins are soon feeling better. The Rose family from

Texas sends all our well wishes.

Yeast infection? My my 2yo dd complains of bladder or peeing pain, it

usually means that she has a yeast infection. So, I end up on the floor

squirting monostat (just a bit) into a vagina. Oh, the things we mom's do!

Pam,

Ouch. I can't even imagine putting anything up in Cassie's vaginal area.

Thank goodness I have not had to yet. But, thanks for the suggestion. I am

talking to the ped again tomorrow because she is still complaining to see

what he thinks.

But, would a high white blood cell count in the urine signify a yeast

infection? Or, could it signify an infection elsewhere? I am just so

confused. I don't remember who wrote in about cystitis. I was wondering

about that also. Cassie is just not really a complainer about things. But

here lately things have been really bothering her. I don't know if there is

any correlation of her being off the IVIG. She has complained about

headaches, muscle aches, fatigue, urinary pain etc.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

A high white count usually means a bacterial infection someplace; it

can be an infection in the bladder or elsewhere.

If she has a vaginal yeast infection, the doctor can prescribe Diflucan

which is an oral medication.

Good luck.

Interstitial cystitis is inflammation of the bladder. It is usually

ruled out if the symptoms accompany a UTI; a confirmed one with a positive

urine culture.

Cassie,

I don't insert the applicator stick! I just squirt some near the opening

and just inside and hope for the best. My doctor said that, most likely,

that would be sufficient.

So far, and we are NOT the best people to base this off of, Rebekah is more

achy, headachy, fussy, and tired when her IgG's drop.

I think Mannose is also likely to be more effective if the infection is in

the bladder rather than the urethra. Since it works by a physical action it

needs to be in direct contact with the bacteria. In the urethra the mannose

may just pass by in the urine and not attatch to the e-coli. Having said

that it may work for urethral infections too. I've no experience of this

I was a wimp too and ordered some smaller catheters. I couldn't face using

the 14 size - ouch!

I did not use it when I did the bladder insufflation. I used a goldenseal

gel which I had found to be good on topical infections in the past. Maybe

this wasn't strong enough to stop the infection spreading to the urethra???

When I did the urethral insufflation later I used the ozone oil.

Good Luck Jill - very wise to use small catheters

Hi , glad to know you used smaller ones, too.

I think I will use betadine to disinfect the area first. Either the

bacteria retreated to your paraurethral glands, were always there but

didn't grow until they " had to " because you killed them in the

bladder, OR perhaps since these gut bacteria are commensals and

unless we are extremely clean, probably some are in the area no

matter what...maybe pushed it up in the urethra. I think the latter

is sort of unlikely, seems like the ozone would kill it, but who

knows.

Actually it coats the lining of the urethra and kidneys and bladder,

sort of like teflon, and the little spidery legs of the e coli cannot

hold on and attach and get washed out. It does not kill them, just

doesn't allow them to grab a hold and hang on. At least that is what I

read in a Dr. article. He also said he used it for

women that were close to needing kidney transplants from chronic/acute

uti's and they recovered, so it has to go beyond the bladder in it's affect.

It also did not work for my dad. Lugol's iodine and herbs worked.

Agrisept also worked. I alternate all these. CS didn't seem to help at

all.

Its good to hear that mannose is effective in the urethra and kidneys as

well. I found that CS didn't work for me either

Probably unrelated. Try a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water every couple of hours to help.

Hi Bee,

I used to have the smallest bladder ever! But since starting your program I have

noticed that even while drinking more fluids now (about 10-11 cups a day, which

includes Bee's Egg Drink and the Electrolyte drink) I sometimes won't go to the

bathroom for over 3 hours or so. I used to go every 40 minutes or so. So my

question is, what seems to be helping my bladder? Is water now being more useful

to my cells and so it's not just going through me as fast? Just trying to

understand what this may mean (or maybe it's nothing... :))

Thank you!

Hi ,

Before I started Bee's program, I had issues with bladder irritation and

frequency. I had an ultrasound done on my bladder (before and after emptying)

and it was found that the there was tension in the bladder that was not allowing

it to relax enough to expel all the urine in there. I would have to go at least

once every 30 minutes or so and it was very urgent at times!

I believe that the candida overgrowths in the bladder causing irritation which

results in tension in the bladder. Since being on Bee's program, the bladder

irritation has mostly cleared up. I don't believe that is has anything to do

with the water getting into your cells. It's more likely that your bladder is

less irritated and can relax more to expel more urine at a time so you can go

for longer periods in between each urination. I feel this is true for me, but

perhaps Bee can shed more light on your situation.
