Sondra,

I don't think I've ever met a single HepC patient who has NOT had that

darned pain in the middle area of the right side near the bottom of the ribs

that is nagging.

Of course, the dr's say this is not possible.

I, too, went many years complaining about it and finally had my gall bladder

out because I had stones and one was " impacted " (according to the pathology

report). I still get these attacks of pain occasionally, but not as

bad/frequent as before.

I don't know about the medications for ADD or bi-polar disorder and HepC.

That is EXACTLY where it is, Right under the rib!! None of the

doctors will say it's from my liver. One even thought it was my gall

bladder too!

Wow! I'm not alone!!!

Isn't it wonderful when you start to discover you aren't alone and

others are going through the same things. The folks in this group can

If you are a type O secretor, then try Stevia. It is wonderful and has none

of the issues of sugar or honey and none of the poisons of Nutrasweet or

Equal.

-- Questions?

I'm just starting and I have a few questions with regards to certain

foods.

1) Is Cinnamon okay for O's? I've seen various lists and some say

yes, some say no. (please say yes because I love Cinnamon :)

It is Neutral or Avoid depending on your secretor status. Neutral for

secretors and Avoid for non-secretors.

2) What does NB mean on food lists as one of my list has both Tuna

and Turkey as NB for O's and I eat quite a bit of both.

It stand for Neutral / Beneficial.

3) Are Beansprouts (normally used in stir-fries) okay? You guys may

call them something else because I don't see them on any list.

As far as I know they are usually Mung Bean Sprouting which are Neutral

4) Sweetners like Canderel/Nuturasweet are an aviod aren't they, so

can anyone suggest an alternative sweetner if I'm also trying to lose

weight?

The herb Stevia has been mentioned here before, though it is an Avoid for

non-secretors, but I have no experience with it so can't offer much more

than this.

5) Can I use gravy?

Depends how you are making gravy!

Any help appreciated!

Clive

Hope that helps'

//1. What is the pre diet test//

I don't know.

do you mean the pre op diet?

//2. What test do they do before surgery on you and has anyone not

passed there test and had to go home without the surgery. //

EKG and blood work. pretty standard stuff. if you are in good health

this should just be a formality. I don't know if anyone has been

turned away at the hopital but i am sure it is possible.

Kathy, 2 persons have been turned back but they had pretty serious health issues that they omitted from the medcial forms we send for approval. You will be fine, they basically need to know how you are when you arrive so they can take care of you properly. Patients with specific health problems are asked for additional tests done at home before coming here, this was not your case. The pre op diet is very important please be sure and follow it for the time the doctor asked you, it will help reduce your surgery risks and help with your recovery. A warning to everyone. As obese people, many of us have health problems and the only way to be safe undergoing surgery, is to tell the truth. I did not want to tell about my gallbladder when I found out it was full of stones. My primary doctor knew of course and I wanted to tell her about my planned banding surgery. She OK'd it as long as I told Dr. Aceves about the gallbladder. When I did, he said I needed to get the GB out before I went to Mexicali or have it out same time as the banding. He took out my gallbladder and the biggest stones I've ever seen (I'm a nurse and have seen a few). I am so glad I didn't take the risk of not telling him and not having the GB out before banding. Be honest about your health status, get tests done and reassure yourself and Dr. A. and all will go very well. Phyllis

Hi Bee,

If nutrition is key to building the immune system, then why do you not allow so

many nutritious foods on your program? If killing the yeast is not the goal,

but building the immune system is, how can these foods be left out of the diet.

I am in no way being disrespectful to you, but would love to hear an

explanation, since I have tried many of the other diets that do allow these

foods, and always the brain fog and sweet cravings get much more intense.

Since starting your diet, I have been very fatigued, cold, bloated, brain fog,

hair has started falling out, and I have been starving. I sometimes get vision

trails, crazy as that may sound, and my ears itch very badly. Just a couple of

small servings of protein, veggies, and fats do not seem to be satifying my

hunger and energy needs. On the flip side, I no longer have intense cravings for

sweets, and eventhough my hair is falling out, it has a very nice texture that

it didn't have prediet. My thyroid function has been tested, and the results

are normal. Do you think this could still be a problem?

I, like you, feel that this started at birth. I think it runs in my mother's

family, since there is a lot of depression, obesity, and retardation among her

siblings. She has 11 brothers and sisters.

Also, I would love to read you story, but I can't find it on your website.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. If I can get through this, I hope otto be

back here thanking you someday for your completely different protocol. Sherry

Hi, I appreciate you problems with supply- it's got us all worried. In the mean time can you ask your doc for T3 such as Cytomel? either as a combo with T4 or on it's own. I feel little different on T3 only that I do on Armour + T3. It has a shorter half life than T4, but is more stable than many folk think. If you still have high antibodies and high cholesterol than even with Armour you may still be undermedicated- docs tend to precsribe the mimimum possible. Once I got enough T3 into me my eyesight improved- not by more than a degree, but it did improve. > Subject: Questions?> > I lI live in the US. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Hello yardbirdmail (do you have a name we can call you?)

Welcome to our forum and I hope you get all the help and support

you need.

If you are can get your thyroid medication through your insurance,

I would go for the Erfa (Canadian) 'Thyroid' at the moment as this is an

approved medication. It is very similar to the original formulae of Armour

Thyroid. You can buy this from the Erfa web site direct. Thyroid-s and

'Thiroyd' are also excellent thyroid extracts, but not sure whether your

insurance would cover these. They would certainly be cheaper than the Erfa

'Thyroid' but make enquiries and let us know.

I am sorry to hear about your eyes, and wonder if this could be

caused by the thyroid antibodies which can also affect the eyes. Do you have any

swelling that might show your eyes to be bulging at all or has the expression

in your eyes changed, i.e. looking as if you are 'staring'? The ophthalmologist

will certainly be able to get to the bottom of this.

I would ask your GP to do some further blood tests to check to

see whether your levels are low - these are ferritin, vitamin B12,

vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, zinc and copper. Any of these being low in the

range could stop your thyroid hormone from being absorbed and you would need to

take supplements to raise your levels.

Check out our web site under 'hypothyroidism' and then on the

drop down menu, check out 'Associated Conditions' and read everything that is

there to see if you could be suffering from any of them.

Luv - Sheila

My left eye is almost totally blind and my right eye is holding steady but I

still have very blurred vision and see halos around lights. The last two eye

doctors I went to said there was nothing physically wrong with my eyeballs, and

no glaucoma, or cataracts. So the doc is referring me to an ophthalmologist,

who hopefully knows how to deal with thyroid vision issues.

I am hoping this vision stuff is reversible.

Hi Bethann, The antibody test was for TPO-yes? this is specifically for thyroid antibodies that attack the thyroid and surely won't be affected by other diseases that you may have been exposed to- which would create their own specific antibodies. If you have high antibodies then taking Lugol's iodine may make the situation worse and increase the antibody attacks triggered by the extra iodine. antibody attacks tend not to be constant and often come in waves so a reduction in symptoms may be due to thyroid hormone released during the current attack from destroyed thyroid tissue. You are taking a huge number of supplements many of which I've never heard of, but I had a horrible experience with milk thistle- foul uncontrollable wind- it got so bad that my family shut me outside until I promised not to take any more!!! Someone said that this had shown it was working, but it was a price to high to pay as I could not go out in public! Remember not to take iron or calcium supplelements at the same time as thyroid meds as they will cancel each other out. I hope you ERFA arrives OK > Subject: Re: Questions?> > Thank you Sheila:)> > Bethann is good:)> > I just ordered 500 tabs from Value Pharmaceuticals in Canada.> > So something was helping before I started the Armour, and I'm hoping for > improvement onward and upward.> > > After panicking and buying 500 tabs of "armour' from Value > pharmaceuticals yesterday, I read an article about the Congress debating > outlawing importing, in other words bought by us and mailed to us, drugs > from any other country.
