Vilik,

I believe maybe you are confussing people when you say coconut butter

instead of saying coconut oil. I think of cocoa butter when you say coconut

butter. Thought this might help to clear it up.

I figure everybody has a little piece of the truth, and everybody is off

the mark in some way or other.

I had a strange flax reaction, myself. I tried the Budwig program. Bad

reaction. Studied all th co-factors needed and added them. Bad reaction.

Played with amounts, proportions, etc. Bad reaction. (Was using high lignan

very fresh stuff.) Then one morning I woke up to find the whites of my eyes

bright red. I discontinued. Later heard some negative skinny on Budwig, but

can't remember it.

The more I delve into anything, the more I find people (scientists) have

taken strong opposing sides, using research to prove their points. I've got

a load of papers here to read as I try to figure out whether NAC

(n-acetyl-cysteine) is helpful in mercury detox or just takes it to the

brain. Two researchers with totally opposing positions. Each has a great

deal of investment, both in terms of their name and their finances, in

being right.

Ray Peat says we need to eat only saturated fat. Other reasonable camps say

only unsaturated fats. (Dr. Swank, an MD. with a clinic in Portland, has

treated people with MD by using a totally unsaturated fat diet, with

amazing success.) If some moderate people actually advocate both coconut

and flax oil, I'd like to read them.

Got any websites?

I just read my own post. I meant MS. I'm not sure there is any way to treat

MD. It may be fatal....

Vilik, Hi! Dr. Kelley's Self-Test and Metabolic Types Chart will give

you the answers, that you're seeking about why one person is better able

to digest a Saturated or another Mono-Saturated or even another

Poly-Unsaturated Fats and Oils and then be hardy and healthy consuming

one over the other!

Dear Vilik -- I'm way behind in reading emails, so I just got to yours about

possibly calling Ray

Peat. Now, I read his articles on his website and was impressed, but left with

a major question:

EVERYTHING I'VE READ RECENTLY REGARDING OILS ADVOCATES FLAX SEED! It's

supposedly God's gift to

humanity, and is used (I think) in cancer therapy by Johanna Budwig, possibly

others. Now, Ray

does not seem very fond of flax seed oil.

A big issue is rancidity: it tends to go really fast. So, what we do is buy the

high lignan

version, since the ground seed particles help protect it from going rancid.

Also, I eat probably

2-4 tablespoons of flax seeds daily, grinding them fresh in a coffee grinder.

So, if you or anyone else can provide a hint about which " information " is best,

or most applicable,

regarding flax seed oil, please le me know.

BTW, some flax ceed people also advocate coconut oil.

Kindest regards ---

Ken

I just eat it from a spoon, but here are some other ways to use it:https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=380678383113I keep mine out on the counter and stir the oil back in whenever I want a spoon full (it is much easier to do this with coconut butter than with peanut butter).

I always have avoided coconut because of the saturated fat. It sounds like that is not an issue. Sent from my iPadOn Sep 20, 2011, at 9:06 PM, "H. C." <hcdesertlady2@...> wrote:

Actually Coconut Oil and Palm oil are very healthy. They got a bad reputation simply because we do not produce it and it is not a commodity we trade. Unfortunately. There are a couple of books that I've found very helpful. One is Eat Fat, Lose Fat and the other Nurishing Traditions both cover these issues.

Coconut Oil has no cholesterol but is extremely high in saturated fat.

Plant based foods contain no cholesterol. Some have fats, but they are usually "good" fats when consumed in moderation.
