Guest guest
Hi Terri, I too!, Took Prilosec daily, before I was banded~July 6, 2006~,but have not taken not one since the band. Haven't had any indigestion either. I was too scare that it might get stuck, so I thought I would see if I could do without it and I haven't missed it one bit. The band has some many benefits for us. I hope this helps. DebTerri Sibaja <terrislaptop@...> wrote: I am pre-op and have been taking Prilosec daily for about a year for my horrible indigestion. Guest guest
Hi Terri: I have had a TERRIBLE time with indigestion for YEARS!!! I finally went to a gastroenterologist who scoped me and said I had GERD and perscribed me a medication which I took for 4 years. Before that I LIVED on Tums. From the day that Dr. Aceves put my band in, I have had NO indigestion issues.....EVER. Indigestion completely went away with the band. Good Luck and hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi, Terri. I've had the same experience as the others - GERD before banding and no Prilosec since! I had to take it daily, and missing one dose would send me into a tizzy. I'd have to take the missed dose AND I took Pepcid AC a couple of times a day for 2 days just to get back on track. I took Prilosec for the first month after surgery, but it's ghastly to open the capsule and mix it with ANYthing. One day I decided to try to go without it and I was amazed!! Haven't taken it now for 4 months. I had a problem recently with gastric burning but realized I had developed a recurrence of my old joint pain (new mattress - it sucks and I got a new - sleep number). But, I started taking huge doses of Advil a couple of times a day and burned out my stomach. Stopped the Advil and am back on track. Best of luck, Terri. You'll be very pleased with your outcome!! I went to the pharmacy I found they have prilosec in fluid form, anyway I was worried cause I had it so bad but, However since I've had the band I have not had any indegestion at all.. I take the pill still and it goes through it is small. Hope this helps you Dawn > 215/190/130 > > > --------------------------------- > Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Terri, I was taking nexium for reflux before the lapband. I had taken it for 4 years. I did have to stop taking my meds prior to surgery- standard procedure. I was nervous about it, because I had really bad reflux. The good news is I have not had to take it since surgery. I have had absolutely no problems since. I do still have the head of my bed elevated a couple of inches. I only hope it will be the same for you! good luck! Guest guest
I put a tsp in my coffee in the a.m. or a tsp on Melba toast. I haven't had any problems with it. (I tried oregano and garlic pills too but they absolutely killed my stomach.) A few months ago, I had a lot of stomach issues and fried food, potatoes, breads, sugars and fats really slowed down my digestion for me. My alternative medicine doctor recommended VSL #3 probiotic which helped a lot. But ultimately I went on a low carb diet (HCG Diet) and my stomach issues went away. I started CO oil and have been fine. I don't know though if my stomach would have tolerated the CO back then. Jen > > Does anybody have any suggestions for me. Guest guest
It's mostly for weight loss but it hit two birds with one stone for me because the diet eliminated flour/sugar/processed foods which I think were causing issues for me and of course weight loss. I tried a few other diets but this one was the one I could actually do and felt the best on. Here is one link about it: hcgdietinfo.com. There is also a forum called HCG Dieters which has a lot of info about it. I personally didn't do the injections though - I used a nasal spray which was pretty cheap. Some people do it on their own but it you have health issues, it would be better to go through a doctor/alternative doctor to address any underlying health issues.I chatted with one woman who tried it and failed - only to find out that she had a pituitary/thyroid/adrenal issues that needed to be addressed. Once she was balanced, she was able to do the diet and lose weight. A few of the members were also using coconut oil during a particular phase of the diet, so that is how I found this forum. Guest guest
Can the VSL#3 be bought at the health food store? Is it mainly to help fight candida? Guest guest
Lately, I've been trying the egg drink and hours later I am burping and tasting it. This happens when I have good meals also that are on the diet. My whole life I've eaten bad food and carbs. So I know my body isn't used to the fats. I've read others talk about feeling like they don't feel their bodies can use the fats. Also, I've found I get fluctuations with how my bowels when I'm eating better. I'll get runny movements a lot. It's pretty disgusting burping and tasting egg drink hours later. Is this something that over time my body will be able to digest the fats or whatever it is that is making me burp up and not digest?
