Guest guest
I believe it's called Tinitis? My sister had it. You might want to go to Google.com search engine (I think it's the best search engine in my humble opinion) and type in Tinitis to find out more info on it. Guest guest
Beck, How did he decide it was one of the Herpes infections if they are only determined by autopsy? What signs or symptoms led to his conclusion? Regarding tinitus...mine appeared in 1993. One day... boom...it was there...highpitched,loud,like crickets...and has never left. It is absorbed by other sounds, so when I want complete quiet is when I hear it the most. HOWEVER...a couple of weeks ago...boom...it went UP a few decibles...not only is it remaining there, but I swear it seems louder every day. I hope my Dr. is in tomorrow, cause am a bit panicked to think it will remain this high or more so...and WHY, like what is making this phase happen???? I had a brain MRI Fri. and even that machine did not mask this level... I see a few places that ginkgo often helps... I glanced at some Meniere's sites...looks like they know tons on the subject... Guest guest
I just had ear surgery on Friday. ENT drained my ears and put tubes in them. My ears are still very clogged. I also just had sinus surgery in Feb. my sinuses got about 60% better from the sinus surgery, and so far (knock on wood) I can smell AGAIN, but my ears seemed to get worse after sinus surgery. Guest guest
A lady friend of my mother had continuous ear and hearing problems since she was fourteen years old. Over the lady's life time she had multiple ear operations and had purchased dozens of hearing aids. Finally at the age of 82 when she was seeing an allergist about another problem, he told her that she was also allergic to milk. Since childhood she had drank two to three glasses of milk a day. After the allergist's diagnosis she quit drinking milk and within a year she had regained about 75% of her hearing. Allergic reaction to the milk is what caused her (68 year) continuous inter-ear infection. Ear Problems Has anyone had ear surgery for their ear problems drainage, etc?Has anyone had a matoidectomy? Guest guest
I have always wondered about desense to asa. Even though we become desensed, does it do other bad things to us? In reality, the lady with the milk allergy should have been desensed to milk long ago, so why did she have hearing problems? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Guest guest
Not everyone desensitizes to allergens. I had to quit taking shots because they made my sinus issues worse. I tried them for over a year. I’ve actually been better since I stopped them and have had fewer issues! Go figure. Aren’t there people who have tried asa desense and not had it work or had to quit it due to bad side effects? K. Guest guest
I am desensitized to aspirin and am thrilled that I've kept polyps at bay now for 2 years. However, I always wonder what I am doing to my body by taking high doses of aspirin on a daily basis. I worry that it adversely effects my immune system. But, it's hard say. I don't have polyps, but I still seem to get chronic sinus infections. Guest guest
Hope someone will be able to help me in relation to 'ear problems'. My husband is undergoing aspirin desens (very slow process due to reactions) and has been doing extremely well for nearly 18 months now. His nasal polyps have remained grade 2 and his nasal passages are clear. His next consultants appointment is July. However, a new problem area has been gaining pace since last November - ears. His ears have become congested. He has become deaf. Had grommets inserted in November and had to have one removed in December. It was reinserted again but is once again causing trouble. The main problem is extremely thick mucus discharge. This build up is blocking grommets and causing havoc. Our present ENT even suggested gaining access through bone behind the ear in an attempt to drain ear. However, I think he had second thoughts on this and has recommended we see someone else who might be more able to help. Getting this appointment is a major struggle and in the meantime I have a husband who is slowly deteriorating. I feel like we are reverting back to what our life was like before we commenced desens. Our GP has prescribed antibiotics but there is no improvement. I read in other posts of sticky green mucous from nasal passages - could this be similar in the ear. At this stage I presume samters quartet is applicable rather than samters triad. Has anyone any ideas as to what may be the cause of this problem and what we could do to remedy the situation? Another problem that has also returned which had also disappeared are blisters on his toes. These are very very sore and as a result walking is very painful. Again has anyone any experience or ideas on this. Sorry about long post, but really need help here.
Guest guest
First I want to tell you that you are amazing. It is a breath of fresh air to have a spouse become so involved and caring about someone with samters. I wish I could help with the other issues but haven't found a solution for my ear issues yet either. I am checking into IH for a possible cause. I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Guest guest
Hi Tami,Thanks for the praise, I could do with a boost. My interest is because I am so scared that his health is reverting back to what I had hoped was a distant memory. Back in those dark days every day brought new problems, e.g. asthma, migraines, gastrointestinal problems, lethargy, ear infections etc etc. It was so wearing not only to the patient but also to me. Watching someone in pain and being unable to help is one of the worst positions to be in. This site is a god send. Its so comforting to know that we are not on our own which is great. Thanks again for your kind words. From: Tami Klumpyan <tami1961@...>samters Sent: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 11:07:05 PMSubject: Re: Re: Ear Problems First I want to tell you that you are amazing. Guest guest
My ears also get congested a lot. I have no great solution, but I can tell you what I do to deal with it... I have tubes in both ears. When my ears fill up I use these ear drops: CiproDex. They are perscription, $45 per tiny bottle - very expensive. That usually loosens up the mucus so it can drain. I also try to drink pleny of water to try to rehydrate. Sometimes I put my ears and nose (alternate) over a steamer, to try to loosen up the mucus so it will drain. The ENT can also suction out the mucus, but that obviously requires a trip to the doctor! Another thing I've used on-and-off over the years: Clear-ease. Its an over the counter "natural" remedy. You suck on it, and it does help drain the ears. I think it helps if the mucus is loose.Last week, after my ear being blocked for two months, I went to the ENT and she pulled a chunk of wax out which had been blocking my tube completely. Congested ears are so frustrating. I hope he gets better. Haven't heard about blisters in relation to Samters? That's a new one on me. Good luck. Guest guest
Bee, I am still having ear issues (swelling, itching, hearing loss). I have been using this system: Nasopure. For reference: www.nasopure.com I have been using it for a month. The prepackaged mix that I clean my sinus with consists of pharmacetuical grade sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate. This system is only supposed to clean the floor of the sinus and not get into the ears. If this product is not right, in what amounts do I mix sea salt and baking soda. The container holds 1 cup of water. Thank you.
