I agree -- soapmaking is not so easy. I have considered it and looked

into it before.

I guess that should be factored into the price -- the fact that the

soap is handmade from real ingredients.

Let us know if you decide to make the tooth soap! :-)

Real olive oil is expensive. And not to get the group on to another

tangent, but there was an article last year about how most olive oil

(about 80-90%) is adulterated with cheap oils like vegetable oil,

soybean oil, etc. If you are buying cheap olive oil, most likely it is

not real.

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/08/13/070813fa_fact_mueller

For those of us trying to avoid soybean oil due to thyroid issues,

this is pretty scary. Make sure you know the source of your olive oil.

I get mine from the farmer's market -- the seller grows his own olives

(Adam's Ranch in California).

Bariani is also a good brand -- you can buy it online.

Sweet Almond Oil added at trace. Instructions: Combine olive, coconut, palm. Add lye solution. Mix until trace. Add almond oil. Pour into mold. If you are comfortable with it, then go ahead with it. It should be noted that it is a drug and has side effects. I personally do not like to take drugs unless I absolutely have to.They also do not recommend that you use sorbitol while breast feeding.http://www.medicinenet.com/sorbitol-oral/article.htmOn Apr 16, 2008, at 7:33 AM, Pamela wrote:That's ingesting a substantial amount. I think it is a matter of personal preference/opinion. Originally

sorbitol was made with mountain sorberry, now it is made as an

artificial sweetner. In the New England Journal of Medicine there was

an article that showed it caused weight loss in woman chewing 15-20

sticks of sugar free gum per day. Hmmm....is that good or bad? LOL

The key here is it makes cells sticky and the stuff (????) sticks to them. You don't want bacteria sticking to your teeth. They can't be decalcified by the saliva solution the comes into play after you eat.

Hi. Is Sorbitol a drug? According to this web-site it is a naturally,

in berries, occurring substance that on the other hand for sure is

industrially produced by way of hydrogenation, and should therefore

perhaps be considered as a chemical product or additive, but drug?

I´m not sure what is the exact definition of a drug, but I would like

to know. Furthermore, I also eat celtic sea salt since a couple of

months, and in the beginning it tasted really good, and I ate it

liberally, but after a while, some months, I started feeling as if it

was enough, and nowadays it does not taste as good any longer, and I

subsequently only take relatively small amonunts now and then, when I

feel like it... I think it is due to the body having been " filled up "

with salt, and therefore does not have any empty " salt-space " left to

fill... hence the change in taste...

What make the cells sticky?Sorry, I lost track of what you were talking about. What have you decided on using? Correct me if I'm wrong. Plaque comes from an acidic condition. After I brush with toothsoap, I swish with a Celtic salt solution to alkilize my mouth.

I would not use the Jarrow...it contains soy. I use Healthy Origins which contains Olive Oil. Also from IHerb.

Even though I used to use many Jarrow supps, I read on one of my groups, I think the GFCF list, that Jarrow contains corn and they cannot guarantee it is not gmo. I won't use their products any longer! Very upsetting!

Anyone else have any experience with plaque or cavities when

you switched away from fluorinated toothpastes? I know I need to make the

switch, but I am so afraid (we have no dental insurance, so we go to the

dentist every 9 months, and the last thing I need is cavities in me or my

family!!!) Anyone have any encouraging words when switching from fluorinated pastes??

Vitamin D will do a better job. Also improving gut health which builds

Vitamin K, another vitamin which moves calcium into bones and teeth. You

can visit the Vitamin K group for more info. Here you will

principally find parents of autism spectrum disorder children. These

kids have enormous gut problems, awful dental issues and increasing the

'K' seems to help a lot.

I haven't used a toothpaste in years. Either salt or bicarb for me.

Yes I have some encouraging words about stopping the use of toothpaste with fluoride....fluoride is poison!!! it inhibits the thyroid, is bad for our bones and so much more. And on top of that, it does NOT even prevent cavities! So stopping fluoride can only be good for you. Regular bar soap is the best thing for our teeth..you can buy it from a company who makes tooth soap and charges a lot, or just use regular bar soap from the market which is much cheaper and does the same thing. My daughter had a cavity that needed to be filled last January. If I remember right, she had two and he only wanted to numb one side of her mouth and then he would fill the other one when she would be home from college. During that time I had her start on tooth soap and she was very pleased with the clean feeling in her mouth. More importantly, when it came time for her next appt. the dental staff looked at the cavity and said it was getting smaller and that they were not going to fill it! They told her to keep doing what she was doing! I love tooth soap! We don't have dental insurance either - I see that Tooth Soap is already saving us money.

Kathleen,

No, not all Vitamin E is made from soy, however a lot of them

are. I use UB Ultra Botanicals CoQ10 with Vitamin E and it is all

natural. It’s guaranteed to be free of corn, milk, soy, salt,

sugar, wheat, yeast, artificial flavors or preservatives. The ingredients are

also non-Irradiated. I did a lot of searching before finding this one and have

been very pleased.

As for brushing my teeth with bar soap…. Good gosh

NO! LOL, my Mother use to wash out my mouth with bar soap when I was bad and

I can still remember that horribly bubbly, nasty taste…YIKES! What

I do use to brush my teeth now is Tom’s Natural Care of Maine. Its

fluoride free and it’s a natural anti-plaque, with silica for whitening and

zinc citrate for tartar control, tooth paste. I purchased it at Winn-Dixie

but their web site address is www.tomsofmaine.com

Phone number: 1-800-FOR-TOMS.

Abundant Blessings,
