Guest guest
Arnold, Are we talking about the same Folic Acid that is in every multi-vitamin and B complex out there? If that's the case, I'm afraid that my daughter gets plenty of it in both of those combinations since she takes a multi-vitamin daily and 2 B50 complexes per day and has been for awhile now. Since it is a big decision with possible serious consequences as has been pointed out by , I feel it is important that ALL information be made available to the patient-consumer, regardless of wheather it supports my preference. All evidence must be weighed in the decisions we arrive at. In your case a neurologist prescribed the Folic Acid, but some on the board may be tempted to go it alone. arnold In a message dated 12/16/2004 9:00:19 P.M. Guest guest
Arnold, Do you know of a good nutrition book that might have good recipes that will better help me increase her B complex. I will be seeing a nutritionist in February and was thinking about asking her to put on a modified Atkins diet. She also has hypothyroidsm and has gained a bit of weight so this might help her too. I have been working on her nutrition, but I think we need some help to do better. But one " side effect " I distinctly remember when I was taking Dilantin 26 years ago, was that it made me very dizzy, loss of balance and inability to tell the difference between green light and red light--not a good situation. perhaps many AED's do the same thing. How is 's nutrition? I believe you once said se was picky and avoided some of the foods high in B Complex and trace minerals. See our archives _messages/ _ (messages/ ) message # 14000 on Food Sources of B Complex, trace minerals calcium & magnesium are high in dark leafy green vegetsables. Try telling her that it will make her feel stronger and more alert. It may be that she cannot think straight while medicated.perhaps she can start feeling better once her diet changes. Keep on trying, you are making progress and will make it much better for you and . Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you both. Guest guest
Grace, I too have hypothyroidism and I gained weight. I would barely eat and I would gain weight as soon I was place a small amount of food in my mouth. It was horrible. I found out it was from hormonal problems. I am now on bio-identical and I am finally balanced out. Now I have to loose the weight. Did you ever find the coconut oil? I have read that it can also help with loosing weight. Of course eating it moderately. > Hi Grace, > Has anyone had this happen or know of someone who had this happen > to them and can you describe what it felt like. > > > > It has been many years, since I was on AED's. Guest guest
Arnold, Do you know what the best dose of vitamin D would be for ? She's 14yo and weighst 138lbs. Most mutivitamin mineral formulas have 400 IUs but I know that's just the RDA recommended dose and we all know that their recommended dose is always much lower than what our body really needs. Thanks! Grace arnoldgore@... wrote: In a message dated 4/6/2005 7:47:37 A.M. Unfortunately modern high tech medicine does not routinely look--and therefore can't find the more simple solutions. The result is a LONG trail of serial medications until maybe they find ONE that has less bad side effects that the child can tolerate for a longer period of time. These nutrints are B Complex vitamins, calcium, magnesium and vitamin D for starters. Staying away from aspartame or nutrasweet in many foods is also important. arnold " The neatest thing in the world is to watch my daughter's body prove the doctors wrong. She is not completely recovered, but we are on the road and it's neat to see the signs " . Donna
