Guest guest
constipation is a major symptom of an underactive thyroid. i have had seizures since i was 12 yrs old, im now 46. i have been constantly constipated for at least the last 20, along with extreme fatiuge which i contributed to the pheonobarbitol i was on. i went to the doctors--they told me i had rheumatoid arthristis in my back----i dont. i tried high fiber diets, but they made me even more constipated. finally, i got a computer and started doing my own research. turns out the when a patient has seizures one of the first things that should be checked is thyroid levels. since getting on the right thyroid meds -armour- i stopped taking my seizure meds. and the armour is all natural, not synthetic like synthroid. although i did have a seizure in june, but i believe that was because of aspartame. i also am no longer constipated, and i have more energy than before on or off the seizure meds. carla in pa
Guest guest
-Hello Arnold, Just wanted to clarify that when I said " did a doctor actually tell you that " I meant I would have been surprised that a Dr. actually gave such common sense advice. I was not looking for confirmation by one!! Does a 'doctor' really have to say it...not at all!! We gave up on them a long time ago but for some reason we still felt " trapped " by them when it came to a's care. (?) We are now in the hands of a Nauropath so I'm hopeful that things will be getting a lot better for her. Lately she seems a tad better so I'm hoping that the supplements we have introduced recently are already starting to have some positive effects. We are continuing to do the " energy treatments " on her too. I don't care what it is that's helping her as long as it's working. Also, we did take a for Hyberbaric Treatments. However, after 10-12 treatments we gave up for various reasons ie: not seeing any difference, the travelling (I don't drive)so it meant time off work for my husband, and ofcourse the $$$. It's a shame that all things helpful come with such a hefty pricetag. Plus, later on we wondered if the treatments may have spurred on the seizures. From things I read recently people go for hundreds of treatments so perhaps we did not give it a fair chance but at $100/treatment who can afford it? I have to get more diligent about her PMS...she's pretty scary right now! If it's not one thing it's another for that poor girl! We've all said it but I'll say it again... God bless you for all the support you give this forum...I don't know how old you are but I pray you live to be 100+! Thanks, Sophie > > Hi Sophie, > In reading your post to Arnold you said " I know it is also > important to avoid constipation at any cost to prevent seizures " . > > That's the first time I've heard the association...did a doctor > actually tell you that??? Guest guest
Carla, My daughter, has hypothyroidsm like you and she's currently on Synthroid. She also started having seizures two weeks before her 12th birthday and after she was put on shythroid. I asked her endo doc if he thought that synthroid might be the cause for her seizures since one of the side effects of synthroid is seizures and he said absolutely not. You said that armour thyroid is all natural, where do I get it from. Do you feel that the armour thyroid is what helped you with your seizures. You said that when you got on the right thyroid meds, were you ever on the synthroid? I want to switch her to the armour thyroid, anyone else on it? Is it common for a person with thyroid problems to also have seizures, do you know??? Thanks for the help! Guest guest
Grace, My daughter and I take synthroid. We have been taking it for 15 years. I have been looking into armour. I have a support group I am in NaturalThyroidHormones/ Maybe they can help you. I actually did not know you can get seizures from it also. HMMM that is interesting. It just sounds complicated and I am afraid to start something new. Good luck > > constipation is a major symptom of an underactive thyroid. i have had > seizures since i was 12 yrs old, im now 46. i have been constantly constipated > for at least the last 20, along with extreme fatiuge which i contributed to the > pheonobarbitol i was on. i went to the doctors--they told me i had > rheumatoid arthristis in my back----i dont. i tried high fiber diets, but they made > me even more constipated. finally, i got a computer and started doing my > own research. turns out the when a patient has seizures one of the first > things that should be checked is thyroid levels. since getting on the right > thyroid meds -armour- i stopped taking my seizure meds. and the armour is all > natural, not synthetic like synthroid. although i did have a seizure in june, > but i believe that was because of aspartame. i also am no longer constipated, > and i have more energy than before on or off the seizure meds. > > carla in pa > > > >
Guest guest
Grace, Yes, I was on synthroid for 3 years and it didnt help me with my thyroid at all. Synthroid doesnt cause seizures, ( to my knowledge), but seizures are a symptom of thyroid disease. When seizures start (for unknown reasons) the thyroid should be checked--It says so in the physicians desk reference book. However, most drs dont do this! Also, most endos will only prescribe synthroid or a generic form of it. I travel an hour and a half to go to a dr who will prescribe it. When I got switched to armour, I was willing to try going off my dilantin because I wasnt as tired as usual and I stopped having auras. I immediately felt better--literally within hours! Synthroid is a synthetic drug that is totally comprised of T4, which is only one of the hormones the thyroid needs. The theory is (as I understand it) that T4 gets converted to T3 in the body which the active hormone that the thyroid really needs, thats why the docs prescribe the T4. However, in some people this process is no longer funtioning, so all you get is an overabundance of T4. Armour is natural desicated pig? hormone and contains all the hormones. The dr. Im going to says he can eventually cure me. I actually found him online. I believe there is definitely a connection between thyroid and epilepsy. I know many people, both offline & online who have both diseases or both diseases are in the family. It is also hard to get correctly diagnosed for thyroid disease. I had to FIGHT with drs to get the right tests for my daughter. It has definitely been a learning experience! Carla

Guest guest
Carly, HMMMM thanks for the info. I am going to bring it up to my doctor the next I am there. I have been talking about the armour and just started looking into it. I want to get myself and daughter off of it. I didnt realize the problems it can occur with the seizures also. Maybe that is why I can not get rid of these last damn seizures( one or two). thanks so much for your help. > Grace, > > Yes, I was on synthroid for 3 years and it didnt help me with my thyroid at all. Guest guest
Carla, We were the opposite, was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism before she began having seizures. The reason why we went for thyroid testing is because I had told he Pediatrician that she kept eating and eating like she was never full and she suggested that we have her thyroid checked and that is when we went to the endocronologist and he confirmed that she had and underactive thyroid and put her on Synthroid and she has been on it since and this is going on over 3 years. According to the tests, her thyroid is normal now that she's on synthroid. I was concerned that the Synthroid might be what's causing her seizures, but from my research, it doesn't seem like it. Seizures may happen at the beginning of starting Synthroid but she was on it for a few months before her seizures started. I can't seem to find any doctors that will prescribe Armour thyroid so for now I will leave her on synthroid since it seems to be working for her until I find a doc that will. Thanks for all your help. Grace jinxie1945@... wrote: Grace, Yes, I was on synthroid for 3 years and it didnt help me with my thyroid at all. Guest guest
Grace, I became a member with a purchase of 25.00 or more. Now they have told me when you can get 30% off if you become a member, so I go on those times. I also tried the recipe for the oil that MJH gave, this morning. It was not bad at all. I Add wheat germ in it to absorb some of the oil. I will also add raisens but I was out of it. It made my stomach a little sqimish. Only Because my stomach is sensitive to butter, margarine, oil...so I dont eat alot of it. > > > > > > > > constipation is a major symptom of an underactive thyroid. i have > > had > > > > seizures since i was 12 yrs old, im now 46. i have been constantly > > > constipated > > > > for at least the last 20, along with extreme fatiuge which i > > > contributed to the > > > > pheonobarbitol i was on. i went to the doctors--they told me i > had > > > > rheumatoid arthristis in my back----i dont. i tried high fiber > > > diets, but they made > > > > me even more constipated. finally, i got a computer and started > > > doing my > > > > own research. turns out the when a patient has seizures one of the > > > first > > > > things that should be checked is thyroid levels. since getting on > > > the right > > > > thyroid meds -armour- i stopped taking my seizure meds. and the > > > armour is all > > > > natural, not synthetic like synthroid. although i did have a > > > seizure in june, > > > > but i believe that was because of aspartame. i also am no longer > > > constipated, > > > > and i have more energy than before on or off the seizure meds. > > > > > > > > carla in pa > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
, I don't think that my daughter will go for that recipe, I really doubt it. She is so good or she used to be so good at taking or eating anything I'd give her, but now she's starting to fight me on the eating part. Guest guest
, One more thing, it used to be buy one get one free on the first Monday and Tuesday of every month, but that's now changed to 30% off instead. MJH said that she tried two differen virgin coconut oils and that they weren't as good as the one from that site she gave me, what do you think of the one from VW? Guest guest
Grace, I have bought the oil at two different places. The first time was vit world. But I am not sure which one I bought at the time. There was two different ones and I was not up to date on it all yet. The one that I use now its from GNC. You can check out the web site. www.Marinebiotherapies.com It is organic, virgin coconut oil and on the back it is certified, no chemicals.... MJH is just as good. Guest guest
Maybe you can find out when they have sales.... I am doing good. I just went for a bunch of blood work today, for thyroid, hormones, my medication, sodium...I am trying to find out why I have the weird pain in my legs. I have to get the sodium done every two weeks because it gets to low and I dont want to have another grand mal. Otherwise I do very well. I am trying to find this SLOW SODIUM if anyone can help. I cant find it in the U.S. at all. Just in canada. , Grace <foxyfoxgrace@y...> wrote: > , > > Thanks, I will check out GNC since I have one at the local mall and I will see which one is cheaper.
