Gail,

So sorry to hear your Dh is not well. My prayers go out to you and I'm right

there with you having my grandaughter born today 1 pound 1 ounce and only 10

inches long at my daughter's 27th week of her pregnancy. It's been a really

rough week and she and baby remain stable tonight. To top it off this

morning was 's IEP to add to that stress. It actually turned out fairly

well since I scheduled it so early hardly anyone showed up. This was the

transitional IEP to High School. I didn't sign it since they're trying to

fade out the speech since he'll probably not make any more progress in their

eyes. Isn't it wonderful the faith THEY have?????? He's made more progress

this year then in the last 14. In any case, we both need some prayers and

this wonderful new life needs every chance modern medicine can give it. I do

have faith in Childrens Hospital.

(mom to DS/ASD 15)

I live in a " small " rural district and my kids have a 45 minute busride. LOL!

Although there are only 900 students in the district the actual area this

encompasses is large. The ride to school is short for them--it's only 1/2

hour. LOL The ride was made longer when some kids from another route were

placed on their bus (for disciplinary reasons--can you believe it?!). But

these kids who were such a problem on their own bus stand up for Sheila!

My kids have one of the longest rides in our city, because we live in the

most rural and southern part of the city. It averaged a little over an hour

in elementary, and about 50 minutes in high school.

Mark,

She's doing better this morning, more alert and happier, but even

yesterday I was a little worried about her because she was so quiet and

barely ate because of her tongue and was talking funny, she still is but

not as bad and she ate a little better this morning. I called her neuro

yesterday and explained the situation and he thinks that she might have

caught something at school, but I know it's the weaning of the Zonegran.

I really believe that the grand mals she had were withdrawl seizures and

I never liked Zonegran, and I can't wait until I completely wean her off

of it, but now I'm scared because I know what happens whenever we reduce

the dose. So now, I don't know how I am going to take her off of the

rest of it. She's only on 25mg at night time only. This is just too hard

on her, but taking her off of it, I know, will be better for her. I wish

I could just take her off of all the drugs and let her be herself. God

willing, maybe one day.

Maybe she senses her body and disgestive system needs a rest, not uncommon.

Just give her liquids like water, freshly juiced veggies, fatfree, low sodium

clearn broths. Parlsey tea.

She will not starve if she does not have solid foods (which required more

energy to digest) for a few days. Just make sure she gets the high quality

fluids listed above.

What method do you use to stop her seizures?

Marilyn,

By the time my oldest daughter called me to tell me that was

having a grand mal, she was already into it, I did try putting a piece of

ice on the base of her brain and the shaking stopped almost instantly

when I did this, but she still was disoriented for at least 15 or 20

minutes.

I've been giving her chicken rice soup and she seems to do OK with that,

I will also get some chicken broth and I've been giving her lots of

juices. This morning she wanted breakfast and ate it well but some pain

and is still talking funny.

I've also noticed that she seems to move alot while sleeping, which she

hasn't done since before she had the seizure disorder. Is there anything

I can do to help her have a more restful sleep? She slept well night

before last, but last night she was moving alot again. I'm wodering,

when someone moves so much during sleep, are they actually getting any

sleep at all?

Dear Rich,

How much do you know about the therapeutic techniques used by

Scientology? Years ago, I studied these in depth because they were so

effective. Scientology, in its purest form, just like Catholicism in its

purest form, harms no one. The problem is people hungry for power who misuse

religion.

I know several therapist who incorporate some of Ron Hubbard's

therapeutic techniques with a great deal of success (neither they nor I are

Scientologists).

As far as " putting the Scientology agenda out there " let's not forget

that if it is Scientology that has remained committed to this issue -- the

SAME issue we speak of here -- for years now. They've done more to try to

expose psychiatry for what it is than any other group or individual in

existence. I, for one, am grateful for the work they've done.

They also respond to any calls for info that they get without ever trying

to convert people to Scientology. I've had a working relationhip with CCHR

for years.

The reality is that most people never see the seedy side of Scientology

because they never rise high enough in the organization to do so.

Regards,
