Guest guest
Hello all: Had my explantation w/donut mastopexy yesterday morning. It is a WONDERFUL feeling to be without those pendulous bags of toxic substance hanging off my body. I feel TERRIFIC. My arms don't burn anymore. Any the burning I feel in my breasts is a direct result of the surgery incision - not the same type of burning I had before. This is wonderful. I'm also a bit larger than I thought I'd be. Anyway, I haven't had any pain medicine other than 1 percogesic (OTC tylenol type drug for " enhanced relief of pain " ) last night when I went to bed. My surgery only lasted 2.5 hours. They did try to give me 1/2 of a darvocet, but I threw that up. So, they agreed that I could take a couple/three tylenol if I wanted or the percogesic. I always have to tell these doctors/nurses that I cannot take strong pain meds - I'd rather be a little sore from the surgery than be sick and running back & forth to the toilet to throw up. Needless to say, the act of throwing up just causes more pain. So, I'm fine today. I could probably go back to work tomorrow, but I'm not going to. I'm going to take a week & go back next Monday. I don't have any drains either. Just some steri-strips and a couple pads under a nylon bra. I have no idea what size I am at this point - but I'm excited to go bra shopping since I don't have to buy the kind with the padded straps - the big, ugly, bras. In 6 weeks I can wear an underwire -- not that I will run out & buy one, but it's nice to know I can if I want. I know I'm going to go out & buy something with just 1 or 2 hooks (I always had 4 hooks with my implants)!!! My doc said the antibiotic 'pocket' from one implant had ruptured, but that it would not cause any problems. He took them out intact & otherwise, they looked fine other than being encapsulated. He asked my husband what he wanted them to do with the implants when they come back from pathology and he said, LOL, he wanted them. He told the doc it was a standing joke that we would mount them & ship them off to my ex. I can't believe he actually told the doc that. I said we'd just toss them. UGH...... Anyway, if anyone is thinking about having their implants removed, but are a bit nervous about the surgery - don't be. Go for it. I'll never regret having mine removed. Also, on a happy note, it didn't cost as much as we thought and I managed to get $1,000 from the MDL settlement suit. If I'd sent my manufacturer information to them a couple years ago, it would have been $5,000. Next, I'm going to see if there's some way I can get my insurance company to cover some of the surgery. Now that I've got those things out, I feel strong enough to tackle anything!!!! Prayers to all, peg springfield mo
