Guest guest
Congratulations on your explantation, Peg! Please tell me again, who did your surgery? Interesting that you didn't have the drains, as I did not either. Please keep us posted on your recovery....I think I speak for all the ladies (and gents...yes, we do have some male members...) when I say, thank you for sharing your experiences with us and letting us know what you are going through, as we all need each other as we go through our individual nightmares, and look to each other for support and validation. We will be anxious to hear how your healing goes and praying for a wonderful recovery. I am so glad to hear that you are of a good frame of mind about the whole thing, too! There is no doubt that this is a very troubling and mentally exhausting ordeal, and you seem to be coming through with flying colors. I am proud of you! Stay strong! Hello all:Had my explantation w/donut mastopexy yesterday morning. It is a WONDERFULfeeling to be without those pendulous bags of toxic substance hanging off mybody. I feel TERRIFIC. My arms don't burn anymore. Any the burning I feel inmy breasts is a direct result of the surgery incision - not the same type ofburning I had before. This is wonderful. I'm also a bit larger than Ithought I'd be.Anyway, I haven't had any pain medicine other than 1 percogesic (OTC tylenoltype drug for "enhanced relief of pain") last night when I went to bed. Mysurgery only lasted 2.5 hours. They did try to give me 1/2 of a darvocet, but I threw that up. So, they agreed that I could take a couple/threetylenol if I wanted or the percogesic. I always have to tell thesedoctors/nurses that I cannot take strong pain meds - I'd rather be a littlesore from the surgery than be sick and running back & forth to the toilet tothrow up. Needless to say, the act of throwing up just causes more pain. So,I'm fine today. I could probably go back to work tomorrow, but I'm not goingto. I'm going to take a week & go back next Monday.I don't have any drains either. Just some steri-strips and a couple padsunder a nylon bra. I have no idea what size I am at this point - but I'mexcited to go bra shopping since I don't have to buy the kind with thepadded straps - the big, ugly, bras. In 6 weeks I can wear an underwire --not that I will run out & buy one, but it's nice to know I can if I want. Iknow I'm going to go out & buy something with just 1 or 2 hooks (I alwayshad 4 hooks with my implants)!!!My doc said the antibiotic 'pocket' from one implant had ruptured, but thatit would not cause any problems. He took them out intact & otherwise, theylooked fine other than being encapsulated. He asked my husband what hewanted them to do with the implants when they come back from pathology andhe said, LOL, he wanted them. He told the doc it was a standing joke that wewould mount them & ship them off to my ex. I can't believe he actually toldthe doc that. I said we'd just toss them. UGH......Anyway, if anyone is thinking about having their implants removed, but are abit nervous about the surgery - don't be. Go for it. I'll never regrethaving mine removed. Also, on a happy note, it didn't cost as much as we thought and I managed toget $1,000 from the MDL settlement suit. If I'd sent my manufacturerinformation to them a couple years ago, it would have been $5,000. Next, I'mgoing to see if there's some way I can get my insurance company to coversome of the surgery. Now that I've got those things out, I feel strongenough to tackle anything!!!!Prayers to all, pegspringfield mo
