Guest guest
Hi , sorry for the delay, but I sometimes get backed up. It's never an easy decision to start weaning from drugs. If as you say, your doctor wants to wait another 2 years, start looking for another doctor. A good place to start is with the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), These doctors are usually more disposed to try to attain a drug free status.Their website www.acam.org has a list of doctors by geographic region and you might find one more experienced with weaning patients--these doctors usually know how drugs can really get. Most are inclined to go for a healthy body. I must point out there are exceptions! My dad went to a doctor who happened to be on the ACAM list, he found him without checking the list though. I happened to see his name on the list, but when my dad said he wanted to get off an anti-depressant that he really didn't need and had very little positive benefit anyway, this doctor said if you go off the medication you have to go to a different doctor--i don't want to be responsible for treating you. So not ALL doctors on the list are guaranteed to be disposed to wean patients off drugs. Some may join to get unsuspecting patients to come to them. You can always go back to drugs if you have to, but the positive signs look very encouraging. Good luck, Arnold
