Guest guest
Hi Zoe, I asked Marcelia (my 7yo), the other day if she could remember anything that happened just before she had a seizure. She said, yes, her stomach grumbled, but not a " hunger " kind of grumble, a different kind and more on the side. Other people on this list have mentioned that their children's stomachs grumble so hard right before a seizure, they can hear it from another room. Can anybody which had a similar experience provide more information about this? Does this mean the seizure following the grumble is food (allergy to) related? Thanks, Lorinda On Sunday, September 15, 2002, at 09:20 , zoe88025 wrote: > www.ahealthyme.com/article/primer/101186767
Guest guest
Zoe, thanks so much for the information! Marcelia only had 5 seizures in her life (between 24 Dec 2001 and 20 January 2002), but it remains in my mind that it can recur unless I find the cause. She is on Epilim (Sodium Valproate) and at the last visit to the neuro he said, since her EEG is clean and she hasn't had any since 1/20/2002 she can come off it in February. But there are still quite a few loose ends. > You might want to take a closer look at what may be irritating > Marcelia's gut. Has she had diarrhea? Been sick in any way? Yes, she had diarrhea and vomited two days before the first one. > A couple of things to consider in this: one she may be sensitive to > something > she is eating , and perhaps cannot digest well, such as gluten, which > is not always allergy related. What do you mean when you say, gluten is not always allergy related? Does it mean you may be sensitive to it, but it will not show up in an allergy blood test? We had her blood tested about two weeks ago and it showed allergies to cigarette smoke, aerosols, food colouring, flavouring and preservatives. I wondered why it didn't say gluten as well, because she gets a heavy post nasal drip from eating anything containing gluten. > Food reactions can increase respiration which in turn can lower the > seizure threshold. It was during the summer when she suffered from the seizures, so I believe she could have been a bit dehydrated (all were in the late afternoon, early evening, except one). Now, summer is on its way again (we live in South Africa) and I'm worried. > > You may want to try checking out gluten free diets and see how > this works. Yes, we have eliminated gluten since April when she had a completely blocked, left maxillary sinus. Gluten elimination has improved her health somewhat, but the recurring sinusitis lead to a sinus flush and the abovementioned bloodtest (IgE + food substances + animals) to find out what keeps triggering the sinusitus infections. Thank you for all the advice, I will definitely look into this some more. Lorinda

Guest guest
Possibly allergy e.g. gluten. But you should also look into the possibility of a parasite infestation. Dr. Hulda who sponsors this web site believes that the ascaris parasite almost always is implicated in epilepsy. I believe ascaris and/or similar parasites are probably implicated in epilepsy. I am a temporal lobe epilepsy person, who in the last 2 weeks on the product PCA-RX from www.maxamlabs.com (taken to detox heavy metals and other toxins) had a very big detox of parasites in the stools. I am thinking better, and everything else is a little better. I am stil on the PCA-RX detox. Parasites unfortunately are very difficult to diagnose, as lab results from even the best labs frequently give negative results for parasites, but the practicalities of a parasite detox prgram done anyway create significant empirical results. Guest guest
Hi Glen, Thank you so much for the information. I will visit http://www.maxamlabs.com. This is very interesting, the parasite connection. Tracey is a firm believer in parasites as a cause of epilepsy. She told me about the boy who got the Naegleria fowleri amoeba in a lake. This amoeba swims into the victims brain and causes death in 95% of cases (amebic meningitis). So, this set me thinking...our cat had a (staring) seizure only ten to fourteen days before Marcelia's first seizure. Maybe Marcelia had an amoeba, but it must gone now, since she hadn't had a seizure since 1/20/2002. I am not sure that she's toxic on metals, although one doc did pick up high levels of aluminum in her system, and she had an MMR three months before the first seizure. But, as Tracey once said to me, sometimes a seizure is just a culmination of a lot of things, and it takes only one final thing to " break the camel's back " . Guest guest
Hi. Jim Cole the president of Maxamlabs is very accessible. You can phone him or email him directly jim@... Do not underestimate heavy metals or parasites. Be happy about the lack of seizures, but be vigilant. I would still buy maxam's PCA-RX product, and on the first spray day, use it as an inducement for a stool or urine test through Doctor's Data labs. Jim could probably suggest a methodology. My inducer this spring for my Doctor's Data metal and minerals test was the drug DMPS. It is somewhat controversial and PCA-RX will probably do the job, but safer. 15 years after my amalgam removal, and 9 years after a series of DMPS injections in 1993, to my naive surprise, my mercury levels are still quite high, and I am genetically hypersensitive to the stuff anyway. I am sure the PCA-RX is working as I am definitely thinking better these past 10 days. My mineral levels on my Doctor's Data test were incredibly low, which led DR. Klinghaardt, my Seattle neurologist to immediately suspect parasites. His applied kiniesiology muscle testing confirmed it , and in fact produced seizures on the spot. Dr. Klinghardt has found no good labs in the U.S. for testing parasites. Patients of his on his parasite program who have had negative parasite lab tests have frequently subsequently brought parasites expelled in the stools to his office as proof. The PCA-RX on the first 5 days of me taking it caused me to expell all kinds of parasites. I am seeing Dr. Klinghardt on Thursday. Amongst other things we will muscle test for any residual parasites. Guest guest
Hello Glen, In what way do you think parasites are linked to heavy metals? (You used a product to remove heavy metals, and parasites were expelled.) Thanks Lorinda On Tuesday, September 24, 2002, at 06:03 , Glen wrote: > Hi. Guest guest
Heavy Metals weaken the entire system period, particularly in those allergic/hypersensititve to heavy metals. A weakened immune system in general will have difficulty in fighting off any bugs, including parasites. Specifically, Dr. Klinghardt believes that the parasites tend to concentrate in the body where " depots " or " nests " of the heavy metals have deposited. So an overall parasite program can be important. But removing the heavy metals removes the opportunity for the parasites to concentrate. >From: Lorinda Theron <lorindatheron@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: [ ] Re: The gut brain: stomach grumbles >Date: Wed, 25 Sep 2002 08:22:46 +0200 > >Hello Glen, > >In what way do you think parasites are linked to heavy metals? Guest guest
It is abundantly clear that heavy metal toxicity is not good for living things. Why should it be good for parasites? Does Dr. Klinghardt cite any studies for this odd belief? Most anti-parasite preparations are poisonous to human beings, too, and must be used with care. I think there is a tendency to label " bad " and think that bad seeks bad. No way! Some bad things are bad to bad things.
