Guest guest
I am near Exceptional Parent in NJ & have met the editor & oters at a conference. I already loked at the website. Do you know if the problem is reversable once off depakote? <August 1999 edition of Exceptional Parent ran some excellent articles on childhood epilepsy, which discussed carnitine and research. It is extremely important to test for carnitine deficiency if your child developed seizures prior to the age of ten.> Thank you - I am not sure when she developed them (I saw some " startleing " as an infant that could have been brief seizures) but she started having grand mals at age 4. her seizures were easy to control with phenobarb until about age 7. She is 10 now. I know the neuro tests for liver function. That is widely known about with depakote. We are weaning her off & on to Topomax. She is having sleep disturbances- up every night maybe with auras. She says she feels dizzy & doesn't want to have a seizure. I dont know if this is a side effect from the meds or an aura. I am starting to supplement & doing gfcf diet & feingold & looking into keto diet. She also has adhd & autistic behaviors & learning problems.
