Guest guest
How was your low iron diagnosed? That is, what was the blood test and value that the endo used to make the diagosis? One thing that is often low with hyperthyroid is the MCV (mean corpuscular volume) of the red blood cells. My endo explained that because metabolism is higher, the rate at which the red blood cells are produced speeds up and therefore they don't get as big as they normally do leading to a low MCV. Some people do crave ice and some don't. Betty
Guest guest
I have been anaemic many times - the solution for me is in taking a one-a-day supplement with iron. Very simple, really. No reason was ever found for my being anaemic...but it happens both when I am hyper and when I am hypo. Kate Question/Hyper/Anemia I was recently diagnosed with over medication and went hyper and had my Armour cut in half. Was not still doing well and went to see my Endro who rain more hormone tests and also did an iron and iron binding test. Have been told that hyper and low iron can run together. I am wondering if any of you have had this or heard of it. I have been craving ice cubes for several weeks and did not know why and really said nothing but found out its a sign on low iron. Just went to the doctor and found out that my iron is just fine and I told the doc. finally about eating the ice. And she said that iron will do that but not in my case. Come to find out my new thyroid tests now show that I am going hypo and it really went up from three weeks ago. Glad to know that the ice goes with the hypo. Never heard that before. But the tests do not lie about the iron. Relief!!!! LOL They just ran a B-12 on me today to see about that too. At least now I know why I am eating ice thanks to you. Many thanks! But the thyroid roller coaster is killing me! LOL
