Guest guest
Hi everyone. This is Dawn Rose checking in with some more results and questions!! 26/04/01: FT4 7 (RR 10-20) FT4 Previous: 5 (RR 10-20) 05/04/01 7 (RR 10-20) 14/03/01 17(RR 10-20) 31/01/01 FT3 didn't take it (too expensive?) 26/04/01: TSH 9.34 (RR 0.35-5.00) TSH Previous: 4.24 05/04/01 0.04 14/03/01 <0.01 31/01/01 26/04/01 Thyroid Receptor Abs (TRABs) 5.3 (RR <1 IU/L Negative; 1-2 IU/L Equivocal; >2 IU/L Positive) Previousl TSI results (for comparison): 10.3 (same ref range as above!) I am not sure how to interpret these antibody results. the test I had done in January was for TSI, but seems to be exactly the same test as the TRABs test (Is that right?) If that is right, then my antibodies are falling, but the doctor didn't want to explain to me what this particular result means. I'd like to know if it is typical to see the antibodies falling by this much with my FT4 and FT3 at hypo? The GP who ordered the tests, also ordered the test for the blocking anti-body recommended by Elaine, but the lab just ignored her request. That is the third time they have just not done the tests ordered. Wierd hey? Maybe they don't do that test, I will investigate. Generally feeling much better but beginning to look awful again under the eyes. It seems that unless i have 12 hours sleep a day, I am just destined to have black circles under the eyes! The endocrinologist has dropped me down to 10 mg Carbimazole a day (I had got down to 12.5 myself). I try so hard to communicate with her - it really HAS made a differece to me to drop the dose down little bit by little bit instead of doing it her way and halfing and quatering and dramatically changing things way. The endo doesn't say anything but you can just see it all over her face and her hovering pen, and her can't wait to get a move on to the next point and a more gratful patient - fidgeting, shuffle as many papers as you can while the patient is talking, that she just thinks I am weak and fussy. I must practice this trick myself next time she's talking I'll shuffle my own notes and make it clear that I am not actually listening but thinking about what I am going to say next! (Wow! am I ever going to loose this venom for authority that has developed in me since being ill!!? Maybe I am too far gone and can never come back from my disillusionment with the establishment). Antjoan, you are right: I keep wanting to do the alternative healthy eating thing, the supplement thing - but it just evades me and I end up relying too much on the Carbimazole. I will try harder. Just quickly... I am experiencing face flushes of late. I am 34: do you think it could just be the extra weight that I have put on? It actually feels hormonal though... is it anything to do with being hypo? The kitten is almost named: Hadji (Arabic for Traveller) or Hadi (Arabic for guide). Thanks to everyone for their input. Also still in the running are Tully ( a river in Queensland) Lottie (in anticipation of that lottery win!) Cluney (or Clooney) but meaning " from the meadow " rather than after ! Esme (A very Australian name for old ladies!) Moola (slang for money) Honey, Cilla, Florin and Chijo (Japanese for " long life " ). Looking through the books, I discover I am drawn to all the beautiful Arabic and Hebrew names, what beautiful languages they are! Okay, that's enough of me and my warbling!
