Guest guest
I had that too, the cramps. It's been better since being on the methamizole (sp?). Instead of the propranolol I was taking hawthorn berry syrup, has anybody tried that? tiggertyme2002 wrote: > Hey there, > Does anyone ever have bad cramping in their feet and legs with Graves > Disease?? Guest guest
Hi Annette I get bad cramping sometimes in my feet and frequently in my upper leg when I am hypo. This doesn't happen much any other time, unless I really overdo it badly. Then anyone could expect a cramp or two... Kate cramping feet and remission Hey there, Does anyone ever have bad cramping in their feet and legs with Graves Disease?? I have tried everything, magnisium, potassium, calcium and it always comes back. Also just a note, I have been taking a vitamin supplement from the chiropractor called thymax and my blood test came back heading in a good direction. The endo who gave me a really hard time about using this supplement instead of FDA approved meds, had to say he was really impressed. So I hope I am head for remission. I do take a beta blocker because my heart will go up to 200, but other then that I don't have too many symptoms. When I don't take the supplement, I can feel it in my hands.... they ache. Once I take it again, it goes away. but the cramping in my feet are an issue, it is very painful. Any suggestions?? Annette
Guest guest
Is that thyroid meds or beta blockers? was teh hawthorn berry syrup causing the cramping?? Guest guest
hmmmm that is interesting, because even thou I may be going into remission, I am still quite hyper. I feel like I have tried everything. I am not sure what symtoms are involved with Graves Disease, because mine is mostly shown thru blood tests. My heart is beating rapidly, but with antenalol it has helped. I am losing weight, but have been really busy lately and so haven't really been eating so good. My endo is kinda a jerk and really doesn't want to answer question, just ask them. So I cancelled my last appointment. Since he wrote that it is getting better, I really don't want to deal with him. Everyone I know, that has Endo's say their is cocky. Ugghh, a good doctor would make this much easier to deal with. He would just want me to get it zapped and I don;t see any reason for that. He wanted me to get the scan, everything I read said it isn't necessary, blood test will tell you more, when I asked him, he said that is what will tell us to do next. I ended up getting the test and it didn't tell us anything more than what we already know.... Graves disease, hyperthyroidism. Do many people feel like doctors would perfer to work with you as hypo and not deal with the hyper. I am so glad this supplement improved my blood test, this doc had a hard time admitting that he was very pleasantly suprised. Anyways. sorry about the babbling hope all is well. Guest guest
the cramping is better since being on meds. i'm on both. not sure what was responsible, if either, for the cramping. the hawthorn berry syrup i took for a while instead of the beta blocker. sorry the post wasn't very clear! tiggertyme2002 wrote: > Is that thyroid meds or beta blockers? was teh hawthorn berry syrup > causing the cramping?? > Annette >
Guest guest
Hey Annetter Are you sure Thymax doesn't 'stimulate' your thyoied. I tried to find something about it online but all I came up was 'Thyax' which does stimulate thyroid. Guest guest
Hi again Annette I have looked a little further about Thymax. It is claimed that it boosts your immune system. When you have autoimmune disease such as Graves, it is my understanding that you don't want to boost your immune system. Guest guest
I've never heard of this before, but I've been having awful cramps in my leg (just the left one) since I went off PTU...thanks for posting that you have the same problem. I know it's some sort of muscular thing because a little ibuprofen will make it go away, but I can't take that much ibuprofen. Maybe it will go away when I start on PTU again...that would be great. Guest guest
Same here, I normally begin to feel " cramped " and really stiff in my legs when I am taking too much medicine and have hit the hypo stage. This particularly happened to me when I was on Tapazole. I haven't noticed it as much with the PTU. > > Hi Annette > I get bad cramping sometimes in my feet and frequently in my upper leg when I am hypo. Guest guest
Hi Kate, I looked at that site and that is not what I am taking. I went and looked at my bottle and it is thymex. It is a nutritional supplement made from bovine thymus (or cow thyroid). It actually has help my Graves to start going into remission. I can tell when I forget to take it because the first place I can feel it is in my hands, they feel swollen and ache. This cramping of my feet and stuff I can't quite figure out and everyone has a different solution for it. Anyway, sorry I miss spelled the word, hopefully that will help. Take care, Annette > > Hey Annetter > Are you sure Thymax doesn't 'stimulate' your thyoied. Guest guest
So...correct me if I'm wrong... If you're taking cow thyroid, then you are taking 'additional thyroid' medicine? The swollen and aching hands could happen if you're hypo - so if you are taking anti-thyroid medication, when you don't take additional thyroid then the anti would be too much???Does that make sense to you. It just seems like you are adding more thyroid when you already naturally have too much... Guest guest
Hey Kate, Did you look up thymex (not thymax). I can feel the difference when I take it. When I don't my hands feel swollen and crampy. My blood test showed my T3 and T4 lowering a bit. So it looks like I could possibly be going into remission. Let me know if thymex tells you the same thing, thanks, Annette > > Hi again Annette > I have looked a little further about Thymax. It is claimed that it boosts your immune system. Guest guest
I am not taking PKU or any thyroid meds, except a supplement right now. it gets really bad after I exercise. Guest guest
The chiropractor who prescribed this, practices keinsiology and talked with other docs. I am totally hyper, but boy it sounds like I have more symptoms of hypo. When I take the thymex, it helps my hands and any other symptoms I might be experiencing. weird? He explained it to me and it made sense, now I don't know, but I do know that it is working in some positive way on me I don't have an explaination, maybe someone else does, thanks, Annette > > > > Hey Annetter > > Are you sure Thymax doesn't 'stimulate' your thyoied. Guest guest
Hi Annette Yes I did look into it. In fact I looked into taking something (?) made from thymus for myself a couple of years ago but decided I didn't want to try it. But I'm not a doctor. Just do some reading about autoimmune disease and your immune system and make an informed decision.
