I had a lot of problem with acid reflux early on. Then it went away for a

year or so...but now it is back. I've been trying to watch what and when I

eat but am taking Pepcid almost daily now. Do you think it has something to

do with our thyroid levels? It's almost time to test my levels again. If I

were guessing, I'd guess I am quite hypo now...but I could be wrong..

Fran! I belong to a great group on here called Gerd Support - all about

natural ways to help beat Acid reflux. It would be great if you joined, then

you and I could be the ones with Thyroids too!!

Dear Peta,

Count me in, too! I've had GERD since about age 19, which I manage w/diet

(and not wearing tight belts, etc.). Let me know how to join, OK?

Thanks,

AntJoan

Hi Elaine-

Yes, my praises too. You have broken through and enlightened many of us.

Thank you.

My food intolerance list grows as I spend more time recognizing what is

effecting me. Though I have had reflux problems since a child - our father

was a bit of a naturoepath and told us to lay on our right side. It lets the

stomach drain and in a few minutes the problem is gone. He also gave us shots

of hot blackberry brandy for the flu (ha ha).

Wheat specifically is ok - it's when it's ground down and in bread (could be

the yeast?). I drink a lot of soy milk. I think too much actually gives me

hypO symptoms (cold hands / feet while the rest of my body sweats.) Beans

seem to be ok- pinto, navy, kidney and peas. I still drink my morning coffee

(a big no-no) and haven't found something to substitute for it in the am.

Chocolate is the worst! Though it remains in my house in multiple disguises -

hot cocoa, candy bars, chocolate ice cream, oh,,, just the thought makes me

anxious.

Deep fried foods (anything high in oils of any kind) or high saturated fats

in pork, beef will send my heart bouncing on the walls of my chest. Eggs give

me gas but we still eat a lot of them.

I had an overdose of Tap in early Nov and immediately did a diet / cleanse

for 20+ days. When I reintroduced foods I did a diary of what happened when I

ate what - I only added one new thing to the diet everyother day. I was on

just propranolol (10 mgs X 2 pr day) and if I ate something that disturbed my

digestive system- up to 60 mgs in a couple hours. I also took cod liver oil

and multiple vits w/ minerals, calcium, selenium, silver in small amounts and

a tray of stuff I can't remember all.

Starting in mid-Jan - I'm on 5 mgs X2 Tapazole a day and only use the

propranolol when something I eat dictates it. I still lay on my right side

but the heart bouncing off the chest walls is not remedied. My digestive

system seems more normal. Before - everything I ate the day before left by 8

am. Now- It might be with me till noon the next day. . . Still not normal but

I'm raising the Tap slowly since I no longer am under the guidance of any

local doctor. I have 6 months left on a prescription of tap I intend to use .

.. . and since I'm the only person on tap in the area- my pharmacy has

appreciated it.

I want to do another cleanse. I smoke so I think I'll just add it to my

yearly health regime. I used to walk long & hard enough to clear out my lungs

but the last year has been harder and harder. Stress isn't present (unless I

make it!) I run my own business from home/computer (NoMowGrass.com) so how

stressful can that be! I garden profusely in spring / summer and fall - 2

dogs and a cat. . oh and yeah- a great hubby.

I have a whole family with hyperT symptoms. Investigation of their lifestyles

- I can eliminate genes (if diabetics are a sign), I can attribute ephedrine

(in coffee)? and smoking to every hyperT " looking " person and of course-

smoking or 2nd hand smoke (usually to the developing thyroid years). My

mother may have been on whitecross (if it existed in the 50s) since I can't

remember her without them. I thought long and hard about the ephedrine link

and think there would be a LOT of truckers with the symptoms if ephedrine is

a factor. So it brings me back to smoking.

Sorry for the long post - I really think a lot about what could have done

this to every child in a family.

Thanks for tolerating my ramblings...Sherry

Dear Peta,

Actually, I joined this group as one of the original members by responding to

's article in Health Magazine, before he even started the group! So, how

do I join the GERD group--just go to GERD support.com?

Thanks,

AntJoan
