Hi Peta,

Sorry about that last abortive message--I hit the "enter" button by accident, and had a premature sendoff!

I can fully appreciate the difficulty of 8 years with that population--I've worked with some kids like that, and they're beyond challenging!

I work as a therapist in an outpatient mental health clinic, and do sort of general psychotherapist work--with individuals, couples, children and families. I use a blend of techniques--psychodynamic, cognitive-behaviorial, Gestalt and stuff I've made up myself. It's a second career, and my lifelong dream, and the work is beyond wonderful. I plan to start a private practice soon, but keep my three days a week at the clinic.

My husband works for a British firm, so I've met a few Brits over the years. I went to the U.K. once when I tagged along on one of his business trips. I was so thrilled to be there that after we got to the hotel and he went to sleep to recover from the flight, I ran out and just ran through the streets crying with joy! (I'd never been to Europe before, so this was also kind of a dream come true.) I totally enjoyed our stay--it was summer, and the weather was uncharacteristically warm and sunny, with no rain the whole time I was there. I took day trips by myself (since my husband had to work the whole time)--I went to the Cotswalds, and even took the Chunnel to Paris for the day! It was so exciting, I am getting palpitations just thinking about it.

I'd like to return to Europe and see more of the U.K., and France and Italy as well. However, I hate to fly, and since Sept. 11 I REALLY don't want to fly. If I do go to the U.K. again, I'll let you know.

Take care,

AntJoan

Fabulous!! So, if I see someone running through the streets crying with joy, I'll know it's you!!! Ufortunately, you'll be in the minority here, but I know just what you mean, I get like that when I visit your beautiful country. I took my eldest daughter (Californian, part Sioux,ly 'love' child) on a sort of pilgrimage last year, from Vancouver down to San Diego, and she adored it. If I ever get back to Mendocino (probably by bike as I, too ,fear flying now), I'll probably be nearly hysterical!!! My son wants to go to Long Island (spent 3 weeks there one day!)to see W.W.F. wrestling (!) but my youngest is the MOST obsessed with America - she'd fly over tomorrow - her biggest dream is to swim with dolphins (and I'd be only to happy to do it with her!) You don't happen to live in Florida I spose??Could we pop by?? LOL!!!- the only area I haven't visited yet.

Nice to chat again, Joan.

Love Peta xx
