Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Palpitations are also listed as a side effect of hypoT. And many recent studies indicate that hypothyroidism, including subclinical hypothyoidism, is related to increased heart problems. One of the reasons is that cholesterol is inversely related to thyroid hormone levels. Hope your doc isn't planning on keeping you hypo for too long. Guest guest
I just recalled that HCA Vogel, writing in The Nature Doctor mentions that some people with GD have this problem, where they feel as if they could sleep forever. He says that this has more to do with the calcium disruptions we have and says in the case of difficulty waking, needing extra sleep, etc. the problem is low calcium. Guest guest
Hey Dawn Rose: Don't you just luv this disease?? I think I'm going through similar symptoms, All my levels show normal, but the last few weeks, I've had the headache, eye problems, sleepy, sleepy and lack of concentration and hair falling out AGAIN ! I was sure I would be severely hypo. But blood work received today shows normal. Normal for who?? My TSH IS 1.8 (RR .4-5.5), FT4 .9 (rr .8-1.8) AND FT3 2.9 (RR2.3-4.2) I'm to the point I don't know if I'm hyper or hypo or what now. I felt great when all my levels were in the very low normal range and no tsh. You hang in there . Retta Hypo symptoms for DAWN ROSE Hey up one and all. Just wanted to check. I am feeling SO SO tired all the time, have a headache quite alot, my eyes are huting again when they hadn't done for quite a few months there ( " I feel like someones put knitting needeles in my eyes " has been a phrase that I have used since my teenage years... that along with big weight fluctuations is making me think GD has been with me longer than I had realised!) Anyway, also got joint pains - shooting in my fingers and hands, in my feet. Starting to get my feelings of unco-ordination back - I lie in bed and can't work out where my limbs are, what position I am lying in. I am REALLY DOZEY, a short attention span, no mental energy apart from sometimes when I feel quite " stand-up " funny! That's in the evenings. It feels like it takes me all day long to wake up - I finally get there around 11 pm and don't want to go to sleep again as I won't " be back " for so long! My blood tests this week showed a FT4 of 6 (RR 10-20)- same as last week. They didn't take FT3 and TSH was much higher...from memory it was up from ..84 the previous week to 2.58 (RR.35-5.0). I feel so woozey, I nearly have been knocked over a couple of times and have felt like I might feint - in quite a nice wooozey way - a couple of times whilst I was out and about. I am assuming all this is typical HYPO?? Can't put up with this for much longer, I will be bankrupt, I just keep sleeping. One question though, why do I still have a racing heart? Guest guest
I'm so glad someone ELSE is confused as to being hyper or hypo. I never did know and I've been dealing with this for 17 years. Guest guest
My levels are in the normal range too and yet I could sleep forever if they would just let me! My eyeballs ache and no matter how I diet I can't lose that hyperT poundage I put on. I've been watching my hair carefully in case it, too, starts falling out AGAIN. Is there any other desease that shows normal levels and still leaves you with unrelenting symptoms???? It's like we have the antibodies from hell. Guest guest
This is truly an amazing site! It helps so much to have other people who are feeling the same thing, confirming that THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! I just DRAGGED myself out of bed at noon, I could have stayed there and stayed there. The Calcium thing is also very interesting. I am craving vanilla ice cream all the time. I never liked ice cream before in my life, but this last few weeks I just can't stop myself having it; seasonally it doesn't make sense either - it's autumn in Sydney! Considering I am trying so hard to loose the weight that's piled on - it certainly doesn't make sense! Think I will start supplementing calcium. I know magnesium goes along with it and one or the other of them helps with cramping and eye twitching which I have been getting too. I really do not feel as clever as normal - when I was hyper, all this information lit me up with hope and fell into place really easily; now I can't keep more than two concepts going at once - tricky with endocrinology and all those double negatives, web-like connections, twists and turns! Grateful for the help here. Cheers everyone DAWN ROSE >From: daisyelaine@... >Reply-hyperthyroidism >hyperthyroidism >Subject: Re: Hypo symptoms for DAWN ROSE >Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 19:16:36 EDT > >I just recalled that HCA Vogel, writing in The Nature Doctor mentions that >some people with GD have this problem, where they feel as if they could >sleep >forever. Guest guest
Dawn, When I went hypo for a while it was terrible.....my bones and joints ached so bad one morning I rolled out of bed. Couldn't wait to take aspirin. My hands hurt so that I could barely used the mouse at work. My ears would turn red and itch, my chest would have rashes and I was very lethargic. Memory was terrible. Also I was lightheaded hypo and hyper. Sounds like you also have thyroid eye disease (TED). I do too. When I went hypo for a while my eyelids retracted a little and my eyes hurt, sensitive to light, and hurt to move the eyeballs around. I've been off PTU for several months now but my right eyelid is swollen. Also one of the side affects of TED. According to you lab results it doesn't look like you're hypo but the levels may not be right for you. Did you tell the doc about the symptoms? The headache could be from your eyes. Keep track of your thyroid levels - it helps to determine at what level you feel better. Hope you're feeling better soon, we have no choice but to be patient, it takes time. We all get tired of that term but it's true. It just seems to take so long to recover, especially when we're tired. Take care, Mona Hypo symptoms for DAWN ROSE Hey up one and all. Guest guest
The last time a doctor told me I was low-normal my eyes were bulging, my heart was racing, I was losing weight and very emotional. Went to another doc that put me back on meds and symptoms disappeared...amazing (dripping sarcasm here). You may want to consider changing docs if you can....he's looking at numbers and not at your symptoms!!! He can be dangerous to your health! Guest guest
It's interesting about the palpitations, because I test as being hypo, but I kept telling my Dr that the tests were wrong because I was having the palpitations!! With the cholesterol thing, would that have meant my colesterol would have been elevated? Because mine has always been normal (but my Mom says that's genetics). In regard to levels saying you are normal, but still feeling bad - that is me to a T. I think part of mine may have been that I was sensitive to something in the generic synthroid. I finally started feeling a little better when I got on the name brand. But I still don't feel 100% (or even 75% for that matter! But hey, it's better than the 5- 10% I was feeling two months ago!) Guest guest
I never felt any difference going from the name-brand to the generic Synthroid. It may have been that my dosage was never perfect, I don't know. I also had palpitations for years. That's pretty frightening. And my cholesterol level has always been good, on medication and off. My thyroid levels were always within normal range, too. My doctor only put me on medication because I grew a nodule. On medication and off, though, I still felt crappy. Just a different kind of crappy. Donna http://trak.to/life Re: Hypo symptoms for DAWN ROSEMy levels are in the normal range too and yet I could sleep forever ifthey would just let me!
