My Basic Hyperthyroidism Understanding

Peta,

Those definitely are symptoms of hyperthyroidism. I have similar symptoms a=

s yours.

According to diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine: your weak knees are=

attributed to

your weak kidneys; the weak muscles and shakiness to the spleen; your liver=

and heart are

also weak. The root of all these are your troubled thyroid, which is abnorm=

ally secreting

too much thyroid hormones: T3 and T4. Normally, in this case, the master gl=

and -- the

pituitary glandĀ  -- stops secreting TSH, yet the thyroid continues to produ=

ce too much

thyroid hormone. Your liver, kidneys, and spleen are all stressed out and m=

ust work

overtime to filter the excess T3 and T4 as they try to bring the bodily fun=

ctions to normal.

They work hard to try and readjust the body because of the high presence of=

thyroid

hormone in the bloodstream, which in turns signal the heart to beat much fa=

ster, hence

your rapid pulse. Your metabolism overall is very high. This explains your =

rapid weight

loss because you metabolize too quickly. The body does not and usually cann=

ot absorb

the necessary nutrients it needs. They usually leave the body unabsorbed. T=

his explains

diarrhea and loose stool. Your high metabolism release body heat higher tha=

n normal.

Although your body temperature is within normal range, usually slightly hig=

her, most

hyperthyroid cannot tolerate heat or bright light. You may also be diagnose=

d anemic.

Usually this means you're iron deficient, but take a careful look, you may =

also be copper

deficient. Both iron and copper are responsible for your oxygen production.=

But because of

they deficiency, your body is low in oxygen and that is also why the heart =

must beat faster

to pump the body with enough oxygen. Low level of copper and iron does not =

necessary

means that your body is deficient of these minerals. It may means your body=

cannot

readily absorb copper and iron that already exist in the body. Your test re=

sults may also

indicate low level of potassium, an important element that is responsible i=

n the natural

absorption of iron and copper, as well as other elements. If you have a goi=

ter, this is due

to excess phlegm produced by the spleen. You will noticed a lot more of phl=

egm and

mucus than mormal. The butterfly-shaped thyroid also enlarges as it overwor=

ks producing

thyroid hormone. It also absorbs too much iodine from the body than normal.=

The thyroid

cannot distinguish what is a normal T3 and T4 level, thus it continues to a=

bsorb way too

much iodine, an element responsible for thyroid hormone production, to prod=

uce thyroid

hormone. So yes. taking less iodine in food is important. All seafood inclu=

ding seaweed,

lobsters, shrimps, sea fish, contain iodine. So do iodized salt, and kelp t=

ablets. This also

points out the importance of staying away from RAI tests, such as the RAI U=

ptake Scan.

Your endocrinologist will tell you that the tests utilized only Iodine Isot=

ope 125 in very low

dose compared to the RAI 131 pills, and that it will not harm your thyroid.=

I'd recommend

AGAINST it as the RAI Uptake will exposed your already stressed thyroid to =

Radioactive

Iodine. Any amount of radioactivity are dangerous in the long run. This is =

why all test

technicians performing the test run for cover.

These are my thoughts that I have gathered over the years based on my own e=

xperience

and understanding. I'm not a doctor or a specialist. Merely a patient with =

hyperthyroidism

who believes in alternative ways to treat the disease without destroying th=

e thyroid.

> Hi! Just a question re: symptoms. Is it possible to feel and exhibit sym=

ptoms of

hyperthyroidism and the blood tests come back normal? I had hyperthyroidism=

- came off the Carbimazole and have been supposedly 'normal' ever since?

> Lately I've been feeling very weird, shaky, feeling hypoglycaemic, trembly=

knees, pulse

rate up and down for no reason, weak muscles - everything feeling very fami=

liar and yet

the blood tests keep coming back within normal range. Might this be the Hyp=

erThyroidism

you're talking about? They took a 'bucket of blood' and tested for all sort=

s of other things

(including blood sugar and hormones). This just seems such a coincidence, a=

nd feels so

similar, I can't understand it

Thank you , but why then have ALL my blood tests come back normal:

Anti nuclear tests

Liver function

Blood count

Potassium etc.. levels

Bloor sugar levels

Hormone levels (even though I'm nearly 50!!)

and Thyroid!!!

p.s. I don't have weight loss, apparently when I was hyper I was among the

'lucky' 5% who don't lose weight with it!!! LOL!

Hi ,

You say a goiter is caused by excess phelgm? How do you suggest to get rid

of a goiter. I am hypothyroid and have had a goiter for 3 years now. I take

armour--150mlg.

Let me know1
