Guest guest
I am new to this group and just wondering if anyone can give me any information on this. I am 36 years old and had my first baby 4 and a half months ago and have been feeling unwell for about 2 and a half months now. Some initial blood tests revealed that I was low in ferritin, however my thyroid function tests went 'AWOL'. Last week I went to A & E as I had been feeling particularly unwell and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest and I felt dizzy (which have been symptoms of mine for the past couple of months). My blood pressure was 165/95, an ECG showed I had tachycardia (I previously had an ECG which showed this, but doctor did not seem concerned) with heart rate 105 bpm. Chest x-ray clear and blood tests were all 'normal'. Other symptoms I have had are bad headaches, tingling arms and legs and sometimes head. I feel nervous and 'on edge' quite a lot of the time and find it difficult to relax. My hair has started to fall out also about 6 weeks ago, about a handful a day although that does seem to have slowed down a little. I am now waiting for results of thyroid function tests which I had carried out at the beginning of this week, but I have been absolutely fretting about this for weeks now - at times I have really thought that there has been something seriously wrong with me. I would truly appreciate any help, advice. Many Thanks
Guest guest
Sounds like you're hyperT. I had all those symptoms about 6 months past my son's birth, plus a couple more. If it resolves or becomes hypoT, then it's post-partum. If you stay with these symptoms, you probably are hyperT. The endo I saw at 8 months past the birth was pretty sure it was regular hyperT, which can be precipated by pregnancy, rather than post-partum and he was right. Take a look at the ithyroid.com site for some ideas about supplements while you wait for the reappearance of your thyroid results. Good luck! Let us know how things are going.
