Patty,

Unfortunately, most attorneys don't take on breast implant litigation anymore for the exact reasons you mentioned. I'm sure you know Lynda Roth, COSS founder. On the advice of Kathy ley ston, I contacted her to get the names of some attorneys in Denver who were taking on implant cases. She emailed me back with a list of about 7 attorneys. Not one of them takes on implant cases anymore.

My attorney specializes in med mal cases and unemployment cases. I had actually just settled a wrongful termination case against a former employer, and that is how I was involved with him. I happened to mention to him that I was looking for an attorney to represent me in a med mal case against my implanting ps, he then told me that that is his firms' specialty. I gave him a rundown of what my ps did wrong, and then we got into the fact that my implants were defective and where was McGhan's responsiblility in this? The more we talked, the more he got my history with all my medical probs etc. He felt that it would be worth it to gather info and see if we had a case not just against my ps, but against McGhan as well. When I told him that there were other women who had had McGhan's, he said that the more women to get involved in the lawsuit, the more of a "punch" we're going to make. Of course he said that he would need to review everyone's med records to see if there was a case, but he was willing to take on McGhan. And like I've said, he does a lot of medical device lawsuits, and has a good track record. Not to mention, he is a very respected attorney in Denver.

I just sent off my paperwork to him today for all the expenses I incurred while I had the implants, including rx's, surgeries, doc visits, labs, and other tests. It was very detailed, but I did the best I could with what I had. I had to guestimate on rx prices--what I paid and what insurance paid, and there was no way I could provide him with all the dates of my appts with my rheumy and cardiac surgeon, because I've seen them so much in the last couple of yrs, that I can't keep track of the visits. For a while I was seeing my cardiac surgeon 2-3x/wk because of the sepsis, and it was just in December that I was able to cut down on my visits to him. And I see my rheumy every 2-3 wks. But he should have enough to get started and see if there is a case. I think that with Pierre's report, and all the documentation I have stating that my implants are the most likely cause of my health problems, there is no way I can not have a case. But we'll see. I know the other women are still working on their paperwork, and one is still waiting to get the results back from Pierre. But hers were the same style as mine and implanted the same month and yr as I was, and she had similar health problems. I think that it is worth attempting to pursue this.

If you'd like to speak to my attorney, his name is Zodrow, and his # is (303) 572-0700. Just tell him you know me and are calling about McGhan saline implants, and I'm sure this case will come back to him. He's supposed to have called Kathy ston to network with her, but I don't know whether he has or not. He may be waiting to get most of the women's med records and paperwork. But when I told Kathy about it, she was thrilled that someone was willing to take on McGhan, and wanted to network with him. She wanted me to be sure to tell what her company does and what they can offer. But I think is waiting to see what each woman provides as far as documentation before he does or says anything, which is probably prudent.

You said you had McGhan style 168's, right? I am currently helping a woman who said that her implants are style 168's. One of her implants ruptured and has deflated in her chest. She hasn't had it out yet, but I don't think she's making it a priority right now, although I told her that it really is an urgent matter. Hopefully she'll get them removed within the next couple of wks, although this spontaneous ruture occurred about 4 wks ago. My fear for her is that if she has any bacteria, mold, or fungi in those implants, then that has been released into her systemic system. And while she may feel fine now, I worry about long term consequences of that deflated implant sitting in her chest. I will just have to keep her in my prayers.

I am also going to write that Nevada senator/congresswoman, whatever her title is. I will do that after I send this off to you. Just so you know that I will do that. I am so glad that you invited me to join this group. I find it very active and full of women who are very knowledgeable. I just hope that women soon learn to trust my knowledge as a medical professional and as a woman who has gone through hell and back with saline implants and health problems. I really want to help as many women as I can, and to lobby for the ban of all breast implants. I am thinking about writing my story to a magazine like Glamour, Allure, etc. And I'm even pondering writing a book. When I move to Saudi Arabia, I figure I will have plenty of time to write a book, so the next yr may be a good time to do this. At any rate, I've already written to TLC about one of their shows that was very disturbing. I requested them to provide me in their entirety the studies they quoted in the show, or to let me know where I could find them, as a MEDLINE search did not turn them up. They wrote back to me stating that they didn't have the data I was requesting, and didn't know where I could find it. Needless to say, I have had a few conversations with the editors of this particular show challenging them to air a show with the other side. They haven't taken me up on my challenge (suprise). And I continue to write local articles about the dangers of breast implants, and I lecture in junior high and high schools about implants. I figure if I can reach a younger audience, then maybe I've saved 1 or 2 girls from the horrible health problems they might later encounter if they had chosen implants. I would really like to start lecturing nationally and internationally. Now that I'm moving to the Middle East, maybe I will have that opportunity.

Anyway, when you get some time, I'd still like to hear about the different herbs, as I might consider trying them.

Take care,

e
