Dear Dawn Rose,

I also noticed the quiet spell. I don't go to any other board--just this one. However, as I was cured before this board even started, I rarely initiate any posts--I'm just in the response mode, when something moves me or when I have something to add. This board has gone quiescent before and then picked up, but it's good of you to make the effort to keep it going.

How are you feeling? What was the sense you got from our surveys? Although there were not many participants, it reinforced my belief that no one has gotten better using the medical model alone. As GD goes into remission spontaneously in approximately 30% of cases anyway, I wonder if the medical model is doing any good at all, or is just doing harm. When used as part of a recovery program, ATDs are helpful, but used as the doctors prescribe them, people seem to go hypo and thus prolong their illness--never returning to a healthy balance.

Do you have any alternative medical centers or complementary physicians in your country? Can you contact them if you do? I am REALLY wary of allopathic doctors, and our survey confirms what I already believed.

Take care,

AntJoan

Donna: I know what you meant my 'traditional' medicine, but you have to be

careful with terminology like that. Accupuncture, for example has been around

for about 3,000 years. Herbs have been used as medicines for more than 25,000

years. Doesn't get much more traditional than that. But yes, allopathic

medicine refers to MD's.

Me.

Yes, it means Western medicine, with its emphasis on pills and surgery after one is sick, rather than preventative medicine and viewing humans in a holistic manner. Allopathic medicine treats symptoms or diseases rather than people, and gives patients poison pills that suppress one symptom but cause others. I believe it's OK to use these medicines on occasion if the patient has researched the illness and the medication and makes a decision that this is the wisest choice at the time, but I would never leave that decision to any traditional doctor.

Dear Me,

It's true that natural healing has been around for thousands of years, but, in the U.S., it's not traditional, e.g., most folks in the last hundred years or so have gone to doctors trained in Western medicine. I guess it depends what we mean by "traditional."

Oops! Didn't mean to step in it like that! Sorry. You're right, though. I did mean the medical community.

Thanks, Ant Joan. I thought that's probably what it was.

Hi all, I'm still here but busy. Will post later today, MONA!!!

dead site?

Hi there,

This is my favourite site where I first found help and encouragement after

hyperT diagnosis. It might be my computer, but I haven't had many posts at

all from this board - has it gone quiet??

If a group remains inactive for a spell, does close it down in

the end? I would hate to think the archives might suddenly dissappear as I

haven't read them all yet and believe they are an ENORMOUS well of

information.

I will now go and do what I SHOULD have done first of all which is to check

the site itself to see if you have all been busy afterall.

Hope you are all well I particularly miss Mona and Antjoan, I think many

people I ment on the HyperT board are now using the GD board??? But not

those two - how are you both?!

DAWN ROSE
