Elaine, I went to the new doctor..he didn't push RAI BUT claimed eating

seafood wouldn't mess with my lab results or red dye. He's kind of out there.

I'd

ask a question and it took 10 minutes to answer. Kimber told me when we got out

of there that she didn't like him and felt like telling him to shut up..of

course I got on to her..but geez I felt like it to but didn't tell her of

course. He went on telling that once you have one autoimmune disease your more

apt

to get a 2nd or 3rd which you know I have a fear of doing so now I'm worrying

again.

Have you heard of Thyrodex . On the altmed list a woman with Grave's was

cured by it.. just wondering what you thought. Thanks and will post labs when I

get them. He did TSI but didn't know where to get the blocking TSH done..kind

of strange.. Kim

Hi Kim,

Kimber sounds pretty wise. You might want to trust her instinct. I can't

remember what all is in Thyrodex, but it seems that it has iodine. Can you get a

list of the ingredients in it? Take care, Elaine

Elaine, I couldn't believe his saying that seafood or red dye wouldn't hurt

my test results. I told him I was eating it 3 or 4 times a week and could feel

my heart rate go up after shrimp..what an idiot.. Here is about Thyrodex..a

lady named Judy on the alt list told me about it. She's in remission...Have you

heard of the raw or live food diet? I'm going to do it (no raw eggs or meat as

I think I'd get sick from that)..have you heard of it helping anyone with

Graves? A naturpath that is a licensed pharmacist said I have a virus and

parasites that caused the Grave's..what do you think of that? thanks! Kim

Hi Kim,

A whole food diet, which is what I think you mean, is an excellent idea and

widely recommended for GD. In a whole food diet, food is cooked but not

processed or pre-packaged.

Most everyone, whether they have GD or not, will show evidence of a past

viral infection. Many viruses remain with us for life, but they remain in a

latent

or inactive form for the most part. Viruses are known triggers of GD but it's

active infection that triggers the immune response. Several bacteria are

known to trigger GD, particularly Campylobacter jejunii. But these bacteria do

not

thrive in the body after the initial infection. We have lots of different

bacteria in our bodies that are needed for digestion, shedding toxins, etc. If

you did have an overgrowth and a particular organism was predominant you'd have

symptoms of infection.

That said, I'm all for detoxification programs primarily for removing mucus

and other stagnant materials. It's sure worth a try. Best, Elaine
