Guest guest
Well Brett, I'd say you're making fantastic progress. 's supplement suggestions have helped me tremendously too. As you can see by my previous posts, I've had a set back of my own, but I CAN definitely tell you that it's been thanks to 's supplements and not to my doctor that many health problems I was having have been cleared up. The thyroid hormone I was taking had no effect on them whatsoever, but the supps made a huge difference, so hang in there. You seem to be grasping this all very quickly. Can't wait 'til the other board is back up and running. You'll be a big inspiration to those folks as I think many of them are not aware that this list existed before the website so are probably waiting in limbo to hear what's going on. Keep up the great work, and keep the faith! Penny
Guest guest
Some of you may remember last week I posted about what fantastic progress I am making following 's suggestions for HyperT. S'funny, but the day after my post I took a big step back and the next few days I felt pretty bad - main symptoms were muscle tremors , low energy, high heart rate (90+) and intolerance to heat. I would take mag/cal throughout the day in the 1:1 ratio - the symptoms I mention are indicative of deficiency in these - but got little if any relief. I couldn't figure it out - I was also adding Vit D since it is symbiotic with mag/cal - still no relief. I was so discouraged I refilled my Tapazole prescription figuring the most important thing is relief from the symptoms. I started taking 30mg yesterday for the first time in about 6 weeks. Also last night I added 18mg Iron, about 1000mg Potassium, 100mg Niacin besides my usual copper, B, D, A, Paba, Biotin, B1, B2, trace minerals - and this morning I awoke with no tremors and feeling great! (note that I do NOT attribute this to re-starting the Tapazole - it usually does not provide relief for me for about 10-15 days.) I also switched to the SOLARAY cal/mag 1000mg in a 1:1 ratio - perhaps my body is assimilating this better than the MezoTrace brand I had before? I take the 6 capsules and pour the powder into the blender with some orange juice - its a little bit easier than taking so many capsules all day! Plus the natural calcium in the orange juice can't hurt! So far 's ideas seem to be working for me - I had forgot the part about starting to add iron once the benefits of taking copper, etc have declined, and also his advice about trying Potassium - adding these last night has maybe taken me to the next level - but, of course, this is a dynamic process so only time will tell. I have to remember to read 's stuff over and over and over as so far he has been right on. Bret
Guest guest
Hi Retta, Glad to hear that you're doing so well. Generally muscle cramps indicate magnesium deficiency and some people have had to increase mag to the point where they are taking 3 times as much mag as cal. Also I think the potassium helps the mag work better, so perhaps the potassium will be an improvement. I believe that potassium supplements are limited by law to less than 100 mgs. I don't know the full story, but I believe that excess potassium (probably combined with a calcium and/or magnesium deficiency) can cause severe problems. That is why I would urge anyone taking potassium to try to get it mostly from foods and take a maximum of 1200 mgs of potassium a day. More might be ok, but let's play it safe until we know for sure. I wouldn't go for an extended time taking potassium without cal/mag. Also, you may be at the point where you can use iron. Try 18-25 mgs and see what happens. Pay attention to your heart rate, your energy level, and your body temperature (see if you feel warmer). Guest guest
Bret & Everyone: Bret I'm so glad you have found the next step and are doing good again. 's list is working for me also. I'm currently taking 6 mg copper, b complex, trace minerals, paba, biotin, boron. My goiter has deceased in size also over the last 5 weeks since I started the supplement list, besides feeling 100% better. I decrease my TAP a couple of weeks ago also. The only problem I'm having is with the Calcium/Magnesium (stopped taking) no matter what ratio I tried I would get muscle cramps. I started taking potassium yesterday to see if this would help. Has anyone found more than 99 mcg's in a supplement? Taking 10 pills of potassium seems like a lot.(oh well, what's a few more as long as they get the job done. LOL.) But for everybody, 's list is working, despite my own personal set back with the Cal/mag and I saw improvement in the way I felt physically and emotionally almost immediately after starting copper. Three weeks after starting list, blood levels in normal range for the first time ever since starting TAP in August of 2000!! Anyone out there trying to decide whether or not to try the supplements, I can tell you it is worth it!! and everyone Thanks again for being there for me. Guest guest
Got it. Thank you. And thank you for not calling me, "stupid." LOL! On with my quest for information. Guest guest
& Everybody: I can't believe I'm so stupid sometimes. Have been taking the Calcium/Magnesium and potassium along with other supplements on list and have had muscle cramps, severe, off and on when I take calcium/Magnesium. I have changed the amounts/ratios from very small to very large with no change. Well I finally figured it out. Sunday and Monday took Calcium/Mag/potassium with no cramps, Tuesday by afternoon had minor cramps, but by that evening muscle cramps and tightness so bad could not sleep, had trouble swallowing and breathing, slow pounding heart. Over all felt like I could be in serious trouble. Finally dawned on me while I was pacing the floor around mid-night that I had forgotten to take the trace minerals and thought well, what the heck I'll give it a try. I was completely astounded ! within 5 minutes of taking one teaspoon, neck muscles started to relax, swallowing and breathing became easier. By 15 minutes my whole body was relaxed and not one muscle cramp, no pounding heart and was asleep by 12:30. Obviously some element in the Trace minerals is very important for my body in relationship to the Calcium/Magnesium. Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them ?? Guest guest
Hi Retta, Very interesting! I haven't had this experience with trace minerals interacting with Ca/Mg/K, but have had it make other nutrients suddenly " work. " I would think that you would need more Mag if your muscles were cramping. Do you have an analysis of your trace mineral supplement? Maybe it's high in some major mineral like Mag? If it is some trace element, then it would be really helpful to find which one or ones it is. Guest guest
: I don't have an analysis of the trace minerals. I'm using Source Naturals, ColloidaLife Trace Minerals and electrolytes. I will contact the manufacturer and try to get an analysis. I agree that it would be very beneficial to know exactly what is in this. Thanks so much for your response, I'll let you know if and when I find out something. Enjoy your vacation !!! Retta Re: Progress - Added Iron, Potassium - new boost Hi Retta, Very interesting! Guest guest
Contacted Source Naturals. They were very helpful and have faxed me a Certificate of Analysis on their Trace mineral supplement and will be mailing additional info. If you can e-mail me with a fax number I'll be glad to fax on to you. Thanks, Retta Re: Progress - Added Iron, Potassium - new boost Hi Retta, Very interesting!
