Melatonin and porphyria

Hi Everyone,

Shirley's comment that her hair analysis showed high tin levels

prompted me to research tin and this has led me off into a direction which is

too complicated to describe briefly. As soon as I understand more I will

write about it.

Right now I've run across some information about melatonin which ties

in with this whole story. I was taking melatonin but was tapering off when I

got hyperthyroidism. I have a suspicion now that there may be some

connection.

I am wondering if any of you have ever used melatonin (the popular

health food store available hormone which is used for sleep). In particular

I'm wondering if anyone had a change in thyroid function which may have

coincided with an increase or decrease in melatonin intake.

Also, there may be a thyroid-melatonin-porphyria connection. Does

anyone have porphyria?

Thanks to everyone for all their help.

I occasionally used melatonin. There was a warning on the bottle not to use

it with autoimmune diseases. I already had arthritis but not graves disease

yet. Arthritis started in 1990 and Graves in 1998. The biggest influence

in my life prior to Graves was 3-4 years of constant exposer to stress at

work and at home. Home stress is gone. Haha. He's been gone a year.
