As I wrote in an earlier post, I found some MSM among my husband's

supplements, and started taking it. Question: Is MSM the same thing as MSM

sulfur? If it is, is MSM just sulfur, or is it also something else?

HI

MSM is nothing but pure biological sulfur. In the body it is the third most

abundant nutrient with only water and sodium in larger amounts.

How do you buy MSM ? in tablets? liquid? and where do they carry it? Vitamin

shops or health food stores? I've never seen or heard of it, does anyone have

a brand name? thanks, Chris. Does anyone know if it is true that it

helps snoring problems? I've read that it is suppose to help with it.

Hi Chris

MSM comes in tablets or chewables (not good as too much heat is used to form

them), capsules (the best form), powdered (the easiest if you want to take

large amounts. Pretty tasteless if it's diluted enough), drops (to use for

eye, ear, and nose drops) and their are even such things as toothpaste and

shampoo.

Most of the studies using it for snoring have been a 16% solution used as a

nasal spray, but that form isn't available yet. My husband is using it with

pretty good success. What we do is purchase the drops (10% solution, I'll

include the web site), then I purchase a bottle of nasal saline spray and

empty it. I take the drops, pour into a little dish, add one emptied capsule

till disolved, then squeeze the nasal bottle in it till it fills up. I figure

that has to be somewhere near the larger amount. Since you can't overdose

it's close enough. He is taking 6,000 mgs a day in capsules and the spray

once at night about 1/2 hr. before sleep. The snoring is not gone entirely

but so far greatly improved. Some nights it's almost gone.

I am also taking about 6,000 mgs a day also for a Candida overgrowth and it is

working very well. The research says that what it does is make the intestinal

tract somewhat like teflon so that parasites and yeast cannot grab hold. It

makes the tract less hospitable to both. It also eliminates constipation for

the same reason. It does great things for the skin, hair, and nails as well.

To get the full benefit you should take 500 mgs of Vit C for every 1000 mgs of

MSM.

We are both convinced that this is a supplement we will continue to use

indefinitly. There are too many benefits to ignore.

This is the web site you can order MSM products from. It most cases I receive

their products within two days after I order it.

I have also seen MSM is both of my health food stores.

Hi and Everyone,

I didn't mean to confuse people when I was talking about MSM. Sometimes I

would use the term MSM sulfur just to make sure that anyone new who was

reading the post knew that we were talking about sulfur.

Lately I've seen the importance of sulfur in thyroid conditions, and MSM

seems to be about the only sulfur supplement out there. All the health food

stores have it and there are many brand names. Just ask. Typical tablet

sizes are 500 mg and 1000 mg (1 gram). As I indicated recently, I think that

1000-1500 mg is about the right amount for most people. Taking MSM without

the B vitamins may cause B-1 depletion and consequent depression (I thank

for this experience). Anytime you feel depression, anxiety, or have

fear dreams, think of B-1. Also, taking sulfur can deplete copper, so make

sure you're taking copper before commencing MSM.

I got some MSM crystals. It's cheaper that way. They taste very bitter in

water, but yesterday I had some in grapefruit juice and didn't taste it. The

crystals are also good to make a paste for topical use on skin problems.

I don't know about the snoring problem, but if you find it helps, let us

know.

Hi Chris

I believe the first one I was using was by Tri-Med that I bought at the health

food store. They were 1,000 mg capsules with vit C added. The one I am using

now is one that the web site I gave before packages them selves. They buy in

bulk wholesale and have it packaged in capsules and jars. It is the cheapest

I have found and is 99% just MSM.
