Guest guest
Hi Ruth, Stress does seem to be a frequent precursor to thyroid diseases. It appears that as our bodies make the chemicals that we need to deal with the stress, our stores of certain minerals, like zinc and copper, get quickly depleted. Apparently these minerals are needed to make those chemicals but are not plentiful enough in our bodies to last for long. Another reason to supplement and keep those stores high. We never know when stress will hit and start depleting the stores. Don't be afraid of feeling crummy from taking minerals. When I first started taking copper, I noticed a few minutes of nausea maybe 30 minutes later, especially if I took it at the beginning of a meal or on an empty stomach. Now I can take (3) 2 mg of copper with a banana and feel nothing. If you are really deficient, you'll feel the nausea. Just be happy that it's working. The first few times I took copper(4 mg), about 4 hours later I could notice a significant improvement in how I felt. The momentary discomfort is far out- weighed by the long term benefit. I have emphasized to everyone the importance of taking copper if you are hyperthyroidic and zinc and kelp if you are hypothyroidic, because these minerals are probably the most deficient. Just don't forget that every nutrient is important and the biochemical chains of reactions inside our bodies are very complicated. One missing nutrient can stop the whole process. I really suspect that there are unidentified trace elements which are necessary to recover from both hypo and hyper T. Work on getting your nutritional program complete and don't be too surprised if not too much happens after you take one or two supplements. When I was recovering (look back at my update) I was taking alot of different supplements. There maybe some things that were important, but I'm not aware of how important they really were. But we can be sure that you need to get all essential nutrients before you can become totally healthy. ______________________________________________________________________
