Hi Bob,

Thanks for your letter. I feel there are some important issues raised here.

There may be some scientific studies done on the zinc and copper ratio,

because the Nutrition Almanac (4th Ed. top right of page 111) states that, " An

imbalance of these two minerals can cause thyroid problems. " This is a

somewhat inconsequential statement in light of the fact that tens of millions

of people have " thyroid problems " (even the word 'problem' understates the

situation), but it does seem to indicate that someone has published at study

about this. If there are any good medical researchers here, maybe someone

could find the study.

But you are correct that we are relying on alot of anecdotal evidence at this

point. Scientific studies are certainly one of my goals, but if we can get

enough other people to recover as I have done then we would have a

justification for proceeding to getting some kind of scientific evidence.

That brings up another whole list of problems, mainly where would the money

come from to fund the study. Unfortunately in this country noone seems

interested in funding a study to show that a non-patentable mineral is the

cure for anything. Research is profit-driven so who would fund such a study.

If there were organizations in place right now that would do such studies, I

think they would have done them already--they are very obvious. So I doubt if

such institutions exist, but maybe someone is aware of something that I

haven't heard of.

I have received letters from people who have gone to s Hopkins and the

Mayo Clinic and spent many thousands of dollars and have gone home without any

answers. The information doesn't seem to be out there.

I don't know much about the Alternative Medicine Office of the National

Institute of Health and consequently don't know how much help they could be.

My thinking is that the NIH is a tool of the AMA and the pharmaceutical

business and that they would do all that they could to suppress this

information because if minerals can cure thyroid diseases, then it would put

alot of doctors out of work and cost drug companies billions of dollars.

Maybe I'm wrong thinking that people would value their profits ahead of other

people's health, but I don't think so.

What we need is a research institute that is funded by Americans who want

simple, inexpensive cures for their diseases, instead of ones that are funded

by profit-driven drug companies. Let's all get well with incredibly high

energy and work for that.

I'd appreciate your feedback.

I, frankly, as an ex-government employee, am very much in favor of profit

making businesses, and that includes twinlabs, life sciences, etc. My

experience with the government has taught me that bureaucracy is not a

stimulus to rapid advances in science and technology whereas the potential for

profit is.

Many of the preventive vitamin and herbal companies would love to profit from

a proven approach to solving thyroid problems, and would quickly make a

product. Our group could likewise form a consortium and produce a product.

The Alternative Medicine Office of the NIH is there to check on possible

advances in medicine that cannot and will not logically be supported by the

major drug companies. They have a small budget and probably would not touch

any of our ideas until later, but, as a group, we could approach them for

help, eventual funds, and even the necessary forms and paperwork so that we

could put together a proposal for funds and research. We would, logically,

have to identify a researcher but our group could be the sample, and you might

even qualify as a researcher based on your education and experience.
