Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Well our group is up to 27 members now and still growing. More members are posting messages and I'm getting more feedback from group members and others who are feeling better after a week taking copper and the other minerals. I have received alot of email and letters from people and am accumulating information which seems to support my theories about hyperthyroidism being a mineral deficiency disease. Today I picked up the Fourth Edition of the Nutrition Almanac. I have purchased each edition through the years and given the old ones away. It is literally my nutrition bible and I've spent many a sick night poring through its pages looking for clues to my health problems. If you look up hyperthyroidism, a lot of supplements are mentioned which may be beneficial in the treatment of hyperthyroidism, but nowhere are copper and zinc mentioned. Hopefully, someday... There are numerous clues mentioned under copper (pages 110-113) which I would like to quote, however. " It (copper) plays a role in respiration, since it is involved in the synthesis of hemoglobin, the portion of the blood that carries oxygen. " If you are short on copper, you get deficient in hemoglobin and your cells don't get enough oxygen. I felt that! " Copper helps the body oxidize vitamin C and works with this vitamin in the formation of elastin, a chief component of the elastic connective tissue thoughout the body. It is necessary for proper bone formation and maintenance and is also necessary for the production of RNA. " Without copper, your body doesn't hold together well (I had two hernias--loss of connective tissue strength) and your hair falls out. " The zinc to copper ratio is 10 to 1 (10 times as much zinc as copper) and should be maintained if healthy or ill. " Very close to the 8:1 ratio other sources have recommended. " An imbalance of these two minerals (zinc and copper) can cause thyroid problems. " This is exactly what I've been theorizing and this is the first time I've seen this in print. Apparently there are people who have researched this. " Copper is nontoxic to humans in small amounts; up to 35 milligrams daily for an adult is safe. " " The average person ingests between 2.5 and 5.0 milligrams per day. " The amounts I have been recommending for hyperthyroidism treatment (4 mg to 12 mg) is safe and consistent with what average people consume. " High and low levels of copper have been found in those with emotional problems; however, hypoglycemia or neurotransmitter imbalance may be involved. Copper may accumulate to help fight the problem as well. " In other words, copper deficiency may result from (or cause) stress problems, because the body uses a large amount of copper to fight the problem. Very interesting because many people report a very stressful incident preceded the onset of hyperthyroidism. The theory: the stress causes the copper deficiency which causes the hyperthyroidism. " An increase in dietary zinc may cause a deficiency (of copper). People whose diets are rich in fructose or antacids and those with lengthy use of megadoses of vitamin C are at risk for a deficiency. Babies fed soy milk are at risk for a deficiency;......Megadoses of zinc may cause a copper deficiency. " If you take a lot of zinc, eat a lot of fruit, or take a lot of vitamin C, you are at risk for a copper deficiency. That was a perfect description of me before I got hyperthyroidism--zinc, fruit and 10 grams of C a day. I noted in my diary that I felt worse after eating fruit and taking a lot of vitamin C. " Copper works with iron to form hemoglobin, thereby helping in the treatment of anemia. " Now that I feel healthy and strong and clear-minded, I realize that I was suffering from copper-deficiency anemia. I just didn't have the oxygen carrying hemoglobin to function normally. " It (copper) does appear to affect the immune system in a positive way. " These are a lot of clues that indicate that a copper deficiency is very likely the cause of hyperthyroidism, and at the very least, we all now realize that copper is absolutely essential to health. Now for some of the information from people who have written to me. A very powerful piece of evidence comes from , who is in the process of buying a computer so she can join our group. has had hyperthyroidism for 20 years (and had over 60 doctors--I'll let her tell the story). She has purified her diet, used only distilled water to drink, eaten tons of fruits and vegetables (unfortunately all the wrong ways to treat a deficiency disease) and had hyperthyroid symptoms all 20 years except for three weeks. Last summer, she had perforating ulcers and had half her stomach removed. For three weeks her only food intake was tube-fed " Elemental Plus " (a scientifically-designed complete food replacement, which contained all minerals necessary for human health). For those three weeks her " thyroid became normal instantly and tapazole was dropped. " After 20 years of hyperthyroidism, her thyroid gland was still perfectly healthy, just waiting for the minerals it needed. When it got those minerals, it " became normal instantly " !!!! Pretty amazing!! And excellent evidence that hyperthyroidism is a deficiency disease!! I've received emails or letters from at least 70 people with hyperthryoidism and I have sent them my story. Not a single person has gotten back to me and told me that they were supplementing with copper (over .5 mg a day). That's more evidence. One woman wrote and said that she had been tested and had high levels of copper--she is HYPO-thyroidic. Another piece of evidence. My first symptom to appear and last to disappear was the rapid heart beat at 5 or 6 am. This is the time of day after the longest fast--when any deficiency would be at its maximum. Another piece! The pieces of evidence are mounting, but the real proof is in all of your hands (and bottles of minerals). If all of you with hyperthyroidism take the minerals I suggest and everyone gets better-----THAT WILL BE VERY STRONG EVIDENCE!!!! and a darn good excuse for the biggest party we've ever had!!! Here again is what I recommend: COPPER--8 mg a day (start at 4 mg and work up) ZINC--50 mg a day KELP--10 tablets a day (start with 1 and work up) TRACE ELEMENTS--take the maximum or double the maximum recommended. CALCIUM/MAGNESIUM--one to one ratio--as much as necessary to control the heart problems until the other minerals take effect I know it takes some energy to get these together and energy is in short supply, but it will get your health and life back to 100%!!!! For all of you who are taking the suggested minerals, keep us informed about how you are doing. Every day we take the minerals is a day we improve! Hope to hear from all of you soon!!
