Guest guest
Hi Ruth, Nice to hear from you. I was thinking of you yesterday when I was talking with a woman who had RAI 20 years ago and been on replacement hormone since then. Recently she discovered and began taking supplements which have enabled her to stop taking the hormone for the last three weeks. She is going to write me her full story and I will pass it on for all to oread, but the important thing is that our thyroid glands are incredible resistant to destruction and are ready to produce hormone whenever we supply the raw materials. I would suggest that you find a complete multi-mineral supplement and supplement that wih 10-20 tablets of kelp a day (start slowly since this alone might get your thyroid going and you might start to feel hot and trembling) and zinc (at least 50 mg). There is absolutely no danger of causing problems by taking minerals and a very great danger in not taking them. The worst thing that could happen is also the best thing that could happen: that your thyroid will start producing more hormone and you'll feel hyper. Just slowly reduce the amount of replacement hormone until you get balanced again. With very good luck, you might not need any hormone at all. Just proceed slowly. You should tell your story to the group--the part about getting intimidated by your doctor into the RAI is a very valuable lesson that everyone should study. Keeping our health under our control instead of under a doctor's control is very important. We all get into scary health situations and we need to stay relaxed and not let a doctor scared us into some medical malpractice (most of medicine is malpractice). Hope to hear from you soon! ______________________________________________________________________
