Hi and everyone:

The thyroid, pituitary, and hypothalamus, all work together in a properly

functioning thyroid. Do you think we should expand our research to encompass

the whole instead of one part to determine why the hyper thyroid stops

communicating with the hypothalamus and pituitary?

My endo has an excellent rep, and he says no one knows why stimulating

antibodies take over for the tsh. In 1994 I was diagnosed with a rare form of

Graves where stimulating and blocking antibodies kept my thyroid levels

absolutely normal; tsh was practically non-existant.

, I know you don't like the term " antibodies " so we can call them

" busybodies " ; all I know is that tsh was no where to be found and my thyroid

was producing at normal levels. Since then, the blocking " busybodies " have

taken leave of the situation and I'm left with the same form of hyper-t as

everyone else. I use PTU to keep the stimulating " busybodies " under control.

Has anyone in our group replicated your success in conquering hyper-t? What

do you think about expanding our research to include the effect of vitamins,

minerals, (and anything else we think of) on the feedback system for the

thyroid? I'll understand if you want to sit this one out; it's almost

staggering to contemplate.

Interesting. I too can see that it's sort of a balancing act.

I think I probably threw things out of whack trying to get over arthritis

think the start of my hyperthyroidism was excess amounts of DHEA that I was

taking for my arthritis. I suspect that liver problems may also stimulate

thyriod disorders. And menopause doesn't help.

I'm trying orient myself to this natural treatment and get started on it. I

guess you are too.

Good luck,

Ann

whoops! Correction to the 3rd paragraph of my email dated 29th. Last

sentence should have said: " I use PTU to keep the thyroid under control. "
