Guest guest
Hi and everyone! Glad to hear that you're feeling better! And glad to hear you're taking the zinc and copper. The 22 mg of zinc sounds great. You are trying to build up your copper, so going light on the zinc is wise. During my recovery I took 4 mg of copper a day and felt significantly better in about 6 weeks. I guess you read about Lorna (VZZZ) who took 8 mg of copper a day and is able to run after only two weeks. Now I think that if I had taken more copper daily, I would have recovered faster. I tried taking 8 mg a day for a month and then 12 mg a day for another month to assure myself of its safety and to see if more would make me feel better. I have just decided to cut back to 4 mg a day, because I feel that I've replenished myself with copper now. I can feel a slight zinc deficit from taking that much copper and feel that I should now find the optimum for myself. So basically to replenish my body's stores of copper, I took 4 mg for 3 months, 8 mg for 1 month, and 12 mg for 1 month (I weigh 175 lbs.). Now I think that 4 mg a day will be plenty. I've been considering the possibility that women may need more copper each day than men (as they do for iron). Perhaps if men need 2 mg a day, then women need 4 mg a day to maintain health. It would be interesting to know exactly how much we need each day, so we can better judge how much to take to replenish our depleted supplies. I feel that 8 mg a day for most women is a safe and will replenish the body for a fairly quick recovery (perhaps 60-90 days to get 100% healthy without dependence on thyroid-reducing drugs). Remember to feel results before asking your doctor about reducing your dosage. But I also feel that 4 mg a day will accomplish the same end, but may take a little longer. You will definitely feel the progress just by how your heart feels when you walk or run. Keep us up to date with your progress. I know that you started alot further in the hole than most of us and have had a very hard time. I worry about you but just knowing that you're taking copper now lets me sleep better. ______________________________________________________________________
