I have had some HYPOthyroid symptoms with orange juice, and sometimes too

much of any juice. But, I specifically avoid orange juice unless it is

diluted.

My daughter cannot drink orange juice or even lemonade without feeling " antsy "

and says that it just feels weird.

Sort of like there's an allergy to the citrus.

Just for the record, my acupuncturist told me to stay away from fruit when I

was first diagnosed as hyper. Do people have reactions to fruits other than

oranges?

Hi Sandy and everyone:

Sandy asked what my symptoms were after drinking orange juice. They are

shaking (shivering) real bad, intense nausea, feet turn purple and I feel

weak, breathless and lots of sweating under my arms. Yuck, this is embarassing

but it is true so there is no sense in hiding it. These kind of episodes

completely immobilize me for a period of time.

Another food that is detrimental to me is pork. I cannot eat pork as it

produces the same symptoms plus heavy brain fog where I feel like I don't know

where I am. I just stay away from it.

Sugar does not do me well either.

Take care and thank you all for helping and responding.

Hi and everyone:

Your idea makes alot of sense with regards to the aluminum. It is kind of

scarey to learn about different aspects of foods with regards to preparation

and etc. You don't know what is going on behind the scenes; but thank God

there are people as yourself who are keeping informed.

Thanks alot.

:)

Hi Esther - I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in April 1993, and have had

no problems at all with any fruits at all - including oranges. Interesting -

it would be interestingbto find out why some of us develop problems with at

least citrus products and others don't.

Hi all,

What Sandy said about pork made me realize something:

I have been trying to figure out when I stopped being able to digest pork.

I thought it was when I became a vegetarian some years back. I did not

relate it to the hypo condition until Sandy's post. When I eat pork, even

unprocessed pork that is still it's natural color, I get a pins and

needles sensation all over my stomach, all over flushes ripple through my

body and the brain fogs completely over. I am in intense pain and cannot

move until this " spell " which can last upwards to several hours passes.

Once it passes I am fine.
