Guest guest
, I am so glad that you feel this way about the head stand, I was afraid that you might have seen it as a " quack " thing to do, but I've forgotten that you have tried just about everything possible to help yourself......thanks for the reassurance. Guest guest
hello everyone, I have been reading these letters (just getting around to most of them actually) and I have some questions. ) I read about standing on my head...now about 15 years ago that would have been a piece of cake.. LOL nowadays my health and weight pretty much prevent it. However, my spirit is willing and I am wondering if anyone knows how an overweight person can modify that act. How about hanging my head off of the side of the bed? For about a week I have been taking supplements (havent made it to the health food store for the copper or trace elements ) including IRON and I am feeling so much better, not perfect yet but better than this time last month. This supplement idea is a God send and I take them with lunch or dinner and I have no or very little stomache discomfort. I am also noticing a pleasant decrease in appetite (havent checked for weight loss). Out of habit, I serve myself large portions and end up eating much less and making a more " healthy " choice when it comes to meals. I am slowly getting out of bad habits. ) If this keeps up I may get more energy back to start exercising again. The more exercise we do the more weight loss and the better off we feel. Now for my last question. Any seafood ideas? I dont care much for the breaded fish but sometimes that is all I see in the stores... When I eat out I choose seafood but now I want to eat it as much as I can at home. Any recipe suggestions or am I stuck with only Tuna? take care everyone --kathleen (Hypothyroid since 1992) ______________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Have you tried standing on your head with your legs and back to the wall? That is, using the wall to lean against and hold you up. If you are overweight, don't try this unless you have a strong, healthy neck. ______________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
Regarding copper - I do not believe that it is toxic in the conventional sense. We use copper kettles, etc. for cooking and copper will leach out. Copper's role in the metabolism is not well known to me and I would be interested in information on the subject. ______________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have tried this position of letting my body balance against the wall, but in the process, I pinched something in my left shoulder and am suffering for it now. I think I will go with the " lobster " neck stand that suggested, putting legs up over head while holding up the hips, and lying on the floor. I can do that easily and it has never hurt when Ive done it before( it always reminds me of a lobster, when you bend it in half) But after I get use to doing the lobster stand, I will try to do the head stand again in the future.....it does help to support your body up against the wall, and you can stay there for a long time too.............Chris ______________________________________________________________________
Guest guest
I actually do stand on my head occasionally to loosen up whatever is in my stomach. It works, I'm sorry you can't do the same. Let me think about this one. Boston Pete -----Original Message-----From: Joan Pearse [mailto:jpearse@...]Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2004 2:36 PMachalasia Subject: Re: " heart burn" Thanks Pete! You have summarised it well. I do burp and this is what I expected the cause of that was as well. So much for all the liquid food that is supposed to go down and not linger ! I am taking 30mg of Lanzor at night and 15 mg in the morning and if I remember correctly that is the maximum dosage. One thing though which none of the pharmacists or the doctor tells you, and you only find out reading the package insert, is that it must ge taken at least 30 minutes before a meal. That I find difficult and often forget so perhaps I do not always get maximum benefit. I am not just lactose intolerant but allergic to all milk components therefore it simply does not feature in my diet and yes, lactic acid would not be formed, but carboxylic acids ! I have been thinking along those lines but lacked the scientific knowledge to explain it so nicely. Many of those with myotomies have had fundoplication as well and in theory at least that is supposed to stop stomach acid from refluxing into the oesophagus, but they still have "heartburn". I will find out tomorrow if I have had a fundoplication - I was not told at the time. What one does about this ? I am not able to regurgitate and empty my Oesophagus at will as before - so it is not very full - I suspect some gunk is lurking in the folds [small diverticuli] which do not empty easily. I try and drink water to dilute the acid but that is only temporary - I eat Rennies by the handful - they don't work for long. I have tried having food every 2 hours - something for the acid to chew - obviously not a great idea. An aluminium hydroxide with chlorpromazine [i think- it is an antispasmodic] helps for a while because the aluminium hydroxide coats the oesophagus - however I am on thyroxin and may not take that within two hours before or after aluminium hydroxide. If I wasn't such an arthritic cripple I suppose standing on my head might help get it out, but then I might drown!!! Joan Johannesburg South Africajpearse@... RE: " heart burn" If Nexium is not working you may have some other problem, such as ulcers or Gastritis. I hope your doctor can help determine the problem. Guest guest
Hi Pete, My myotomy was 2 1/2 years ago - I have now found out that I had a Dor fundoplication. After that I did not have much joy and swallowing was worse than before the op. I also had little acid reflux either. Things slowly got worse and for 3 months around Christmas I could eat or drink very little. In mid February this year I had a dilatation (3cm) and that is when the acid problem started. Now I can eat a lot of things but choose to eat mostly liquids to keep the distended section as clear as possible. The smaller diverticula's are not sacks on a stalk as you usually think of a diverticula but a sort of trough or bulge - like a weak bubble on a bicycle tyre. You sometimes see this on a rubber balloon which has been inflated for some time and then pops, the relaxed rubber forms uneven 'bulges'. I think I can distinguish between stomach acid and acid that forms in the fermenting food, because the stomach acid is viscous and burns like fire. The other is merely irritating. The Lanzor has sorted out the stomach acid problem which occurred when the LES was now finally open. I forgot to ask what happens to a wrap when they do a dilatation. Thinking about medication which has to be taken half an hour before a meal - what a laugh for an achalasian - seeing as last night supper is probably still there wafting its turn to go through! Thanks for the thought! Joan Johannesburg South Africajpearse@... RE: " heart burn" If Nexium is not working you may have some other problem, such as ulcers or Gastritis.
