Try to allow some times when you *are* off to prepare as many things ahead of time as you can. Look into some Once-A-Month-Cooking recipes, make large batches of things like meatballs, rice, casseroles and freeze them all for quick meals when needed. Good prep work will cost you less in time and money in the long run. > I've started a new exercise plan of walking once a day one the phone > to a friend, our solution to living an hour apart but still supporting > eachother. Guest guest
thanks for the welcome candice, you sound discouraged though... remember it's a way of living and not an " on " thing or or " off " thing. It's a process of learning healthy living, and so start with doing one thing for yourself today that is good for you: chooose water over soda.... eat a fruit instead of candy... sometimes it's about a healtheir decision than a perfect decision. SURE... we have goals we're workin for .... but i think the best goal we can have is to love us for who we are- all of who we are - body, soul, mind adn spirit. > > Hello and Welcome! > > Sounds like you know what you want to do so that's a good start. Guest guest
thanks for the tips, PT will start, if needed, after 6wks in order to allow my spine enough time to stabalize and heal. so in the mean time, i'm up and walkin for me, i'm looking at getting healthy as my main goal and know that as i increase activity and healthy eating, weight loss will be a natrual part of that process rather than it being my goal. I too easily go overboard on focusing on pounds... but that's for me. I know it's more important to get a good eating plan and such. Yeah, i'm excited about going home and plan on doin a low of easy and healthy foods that freeze well to take for lunches/dinner to school and work. He and I live an hour away from eachother and call each night when it's cool enough to walk. It's a great way to do things and bridge the distance as well. It also helps me stay motivated and distracted by the time i'm walking and just enjoy talking to him. ;D But, sure ... i'll be careful with traffic. Before surgery, i did walking in teh pool sicne i was so limited by back and leg pain and look forward to next week when i can return to that. Guest guest
Sorry to hear that Wayne. Be sure and use some HBOT to speed your healing so you are back to it faster. It will help to fix all of that surgeon induced reperfusion injury. :-) After all, we have known about that since 1964 after first Congressional Hearing on HBOT when NIH build Duke, and all of those other hyperbaric centers. (Interesting testimony. I just realized it is not on the IHMA website under Congressional Testimony so I will have to put it there.) Guest guest
Dear Wayne, My offer stands to help you heal using HBOT, I hope your surgery goes well and is a great success! I am very interested in the doctor as my husband has almost the same condition. He was offered only a " Fixed " stationary joint repair, so the aspect of your surgery sounds great. Can you send me a website and or phone number? Again, Please stay in touch and God bless hyperbaric1@... Guest guest
Dear Wayne, Good luck with your surgery. And yes, it is well documented that surgical procedures heal faster with less scarring if HBOT is used appropriately. If you have a charcot joint, healing will be an issue for you, I suspect, so it is worth considering HBOT post-operatively, if at all possible. Guest guest
There have been several presentations at the UHMS meetings about pre-treatment as well. Remember that HBOT suppresses reperfusion injury on a 23 hour gradient, so a single pre-treatment, and then post treatment, cut healing time by half, as well as reducing pain and swelling. (By the way, this is Dr. Dutka's work, as well as work done by the British military in 1977. The Serbs replicated the work recently and now Serbia is ahead of the US in the latest combat casualty care.
