Where is Duncan?

Hi to the list:

I planned a week-long trip to DC to lobby for the bill that Duncan wrote

to all of us about; he said the best time to come would be the last two weeks in

June.  I made plane reservations, wrote to friends who agreed to let me stay

with them, arranged for boarding for my two dogs and my cat.  I wrote to my own

congressman, Rep. Jim Oberstar, and got an appointment to see him.

Bill said he would get to work making appointments for me to get in to see

congressmen with medical backgrounds and those from Minnesota, but that was two

weeks ago. I have not been able to get in touch with him, and as far as I can

tell, no new legislation has been introduced, similar to HR 7299 which was

introduced last year to provide HBOT treatment for iraq war veterans returning

with TBI.

Has anyone heard from Bill, or know what is going on?  I have had to cancel my

trip; I would feel like a fool going ahead with a trip at this point with no

itinerary other than an appointment with my own Congressman--something I could

do at home in Duluth, MN. It's very puzzling.  I'm disappointed, as I hoped to

be able to contribute in some way to getting HBOT treatment for veterans--a

first step toward making it more available for the rest of us.

By canceling, I'm avoiding some of the expenses of the trip.  I still have to

pay for the plane tickets, but at least I will get a credit, which I can use on

NWA flight at a later date. I'm more than a little frustrated by the situation.

I would like to think that Duncan is legitimate; he has a web site, and

his posts here to the list have been appropriate. Perhaps someone on the list

can speak to that who knows him.  If not, at least I will not spend money

needlessly on a fool's errand; however, if so, I'm worried about his health and

whereabouts.

Best regards,

, MD

My daughter is about to be treated for radiation damage in prep for sugery in

the irradiated area. The doctor at the wound center in a major reputable

hospital advised 90 min at 2.4ATA with 2 short air breaks (4 weeks of treatments

before surgery, 2 weeks after). He said that 2.4 ATA is about the maximum for

any wound-type protocol (i.e. not including treating divers for the bends), but

it definitely depends upon the nature of the damage and the specifics of the

patient.

I hope that helps.

TOO HIGH to me -- especially to start. Our son will start HBOT in Sept (90 days

post stem cell re-infusion) and he will start at 1.4 or 1.5 and will probably

not go higher than that, unless after many treatments he doesn't make any

progress (and by many I mean 80 to 120 treatments). Can you explain why your

doctor is suggesting 1.7 to start and where it is that you are going? Can you

elaborate on what your son is being treated for?

time (4 weeks) that we will be doing the therapy.
