Diane,

In 2002, I forwarded AB2763 requiring CA to obey Federal Medicaid Law.

Our 2/3 Dems buried it in bureaucracy. Repubs worked hard for it.

I also sued the Regional Centers under the Lanterman act, and had

Marois, Stoller, Uzler, etc. testify for me.... the judge found

against us, because he said my testimony of me daughter static gran

mal seizures was not valid because I was not a neurologist (even

though she was tracked and managed by two Board Certified Neurologists)

But, forget all that stuff, Jackie Spears 2002 FDA Approved Drug

Off-Label REimbursement law mandates under criminal penalties that

all off-label drug prescriptions must be reimbursed it they meet

minimal requirements (which HBOT does).

Get a diagnosis of Hyoxic Ischemia for your child, and a prescription

from your physician for HBOT for that, submit it for reimbursement

then fight from there.

The judge in our Regional Center trial refuse to pursue that law

although we quoted it in our case. He ignored it.

In 1993 I fought for over a year to get my children's HBOT repaid or at least in

part back to me, My children had over 14 SPECT scans, finally after a fight up

to the Washington steps Blue Shield of California, Federal employee program did

send me a check, Small check but it was a check!.

In 1999 the Cerebral Palsy foundation did pay for one child whose aggressive

mother showed proof that HBOT worked. I have the cancelled check framed in my

office! (Name of patient removed.)

In 2000 my husband and I attended a CME course at Long Beach Memorial Hospital

about HBOT. To my shock there was a speaker from Blue Shield and Blue Cross

speaking on Insurance policy for payment. It was on Wound care cost, but the

speaker said, there is a unwritten rule in the insurance world, after 15

attempts by the patient and or doctor to have insurance pay for HBOT, the rule

is, go ahead and pay it. again, I was in shock.

In 2002 Court ordered that Child Services medi-cal repay for HBOT for a near

drown child. It took several times to court to GET them to pay 50 dollars per

treatment. This was only after we appeared in court along with the victim

witness program and a host of lawyers who fought for this dear child to have

treatment. ( by the way, treatment did start right away, we were the agency

waiting for the payment which took over 2 years to be paid at 50% of the price.

In 2003 I wrote a letter to Regional Center for a near drown boy who greatly

improved and spoke with the Regional Center of Fresno myself many times, and the

family was given a check back for services which I had greatly reduced in order

for this family to have services.

In 2008 I attended a CME HBOT course, much to my surprise one of the speakers

had a large grant and an animal chamber donated to test if HBOT helped in Brain

disorders!. Unbelievable and he wrote a book! He even signed my book. Finally, I

thought to myself. So I spoke with the author of the book, from Loma

Medical Center, he was excited because his results for animal, i.e. rats mice

was so encouraging!, So I asked him, ok, so why not the next time a closed head

injury, Near drown or other brain disorders are taken to Loma , if you

consider there is no hope, ( which most parents and or loved ones are told) why

not treat them? he told me that he does not work in the ER trauma center, so I

replied, well you must have friends ( MD's) that do work there? why not spread

the good news that you have found HBOT can sometimes reverse brain damage? I

can only hope that he will. judging by his excitement per his results, I hope

and pray that he will.

So the bottom line here is KEEP trying Keep writing, and someday it is hoped

that insurance companies will see the value and monetary value of HBOT for brain

disorders. the Hospitals will jump on this chance to bill for brain disorders,

they will try to charge thier normal large price, I hope they will be forced to

lower the cost. I hope that insurance will see the value verses the life time

of cost for other therapies. The proof is now there in printed form. One of

the problems is the cost that hospitals charge for HBOT. Hence, this is why

myself and other centers opened to lower the cost for children and adults who

would benefit from HBOT.

" Hyperbaric Oxygen For Neurological DIsorders " by Zhang, M.D., PhD,

Loma Medical School of Medicine

Best Publishers. Dr Zhang was very interesting I am thrilled this has

happened. They used a Hard chamber for the animal studies.

Zheng is not an advocate for HBOT for CP, brain injuries, or autism

interesting enough (or, sadly enough).

Read 's 2 chapters on HBOT for MS........ absolutely piss poor science.

No you concluded this, I need the full study, he does not do a comparison,

but mixes all the group results together, or you have misquoted another

study as usual.

and of course combining PT with pressure would help, pressure does help

relieve edema. however I can not believe that some one would say, 40

session, or 24 at 1.5 it does not make sense.

I have the full study, and the results clearly state that there was no

significant difference between all three treatments. It does say all three

proved to be positive, but that there was no difference between the three

methods used.

We these clinicals published in peer reviewed publications, were they blinded

studies, etc.?
