To my sped friends and colleagues:

Emmett Finocche, an associate in our real estate department at KC & S,

mentioned at lunch today having seen a comment questioning Palin's

description of herself last evening as an " advocate " for families of

children with disabilities in light of some action she apparently took as

Governor to cut special ed resources by a whopping 62%. I asked him to

track that item down, since the special education advocacy community ought

to be alert to the facts around any representations like Ms. Palin's.

Also attached are PDFs of the actual budget documents showing the cuts. The

2007 budget is pre-Palin. The 2008 Budget is her first budget, where you can

see the most significant cut.
