Guest guest
Dear , American's invoke God because this country was formed by faithful refugees who fled their homes, work, and friends to a deadly wilderness for the purpose of worshipping the God of their faith, and not the God of the King. The American revolution was fought and won, and our constitution was/is written based on total obedience to Jesus Christ our God. Throughout the history of our country, up until 1962 our country's laws were based and interpreted solely from Christian faith as it is invoked in the constitution and our government. In short, 87% of American's are Christians who believe in the hereafter, and trust in God directly. We live with Him every day of our lives. (now you can easily attack American's for their clear societal hypocrisy in their public conduct ad nauseam). Now, regarding this bulletin board, you have to remember, that many of us parents have had substantial life and death experiences which make us more aware of the frailty of life, and that each of us have for just a moment upon this earth. Hence, our cognizance of " God " as being supreme in our lives. Many parents have stories just as compelling, or more so, than mine. In my case, my daughter died for 35 minutes and was resuscitated. Then, I removed her from life support to end her life (90 feet from 2 HBOT chambers which according to Hutchison's Lancet article, would have given her a 97% probability of surviving and going home listed as well if she had a 30 minute treatment at 3 ATA). And, she did stop breathing and the nurse did tell us she passed. She started breathing again, and at 10:00 that night we put her to bed and kissed her good night and she literally woke up and started moving her arms and legs and crying! We thanked God for those miracles! Today, is 12 years old, and while completely disabled she attends regular school, gets straight " A's " and often in the middle of her essays, she writes of her memories in heaven, with Jesus. What she writes about is of things we have never spoken of on sometimes never thought of. tells us that she was with Jesus in heaven and she was told to come back and help others. This is not just a off the cuff one time quote..... she does things like this every day many times. It is one of her defining fundamental character idiosyncrasies. So, while I assume this is a secular message board, I think this is the wrong place to rail against faith and those of faith. Many parents here have insights that have blessed very few people on earth in the history of the world. And, they live challenged with those blessings in a highly adversarial environment and adversity that entrenches our faith even more. This was probably more than you wanted to hear, but the issue is better dealt with up front in its totality and gotten over with rather than invoking another internal battle. Take care, Ed I hope this clears up your question. At 07:42 AM 7/17/2007, you wrote: >Why oh why do Americans never stop bringing this God thing into >everything?
