Guest guest
Parents, If your child is a Medicaid recipient due to disability, does he/she have to annually re-qualify for Medicaid? In that re-qualifying process, are you re-verifying/re-certifying that your child has a chronic brain-injury? Here's why I'm asking. In Georgia, every year we have to go through this process where we're essentially re-documenting our son's chronic brain-injury. I keep wondering why we're re-inventing the wheel every year if the neurologists say he has a brain-injury, it's permanent, and there's nothing you can do about it. Okay, but if that's true--that it's permanent and nothing can be done to change it--then why do we have to re-verify his brain-injury every year? Shouldn't a one-time documentation be enough? Then I had a thought the other day. Maybe the reason why we have to go through this arduous documentation process is because the elgibility reviewers are *expecting* improvement because the law mandates children are provided whatever is " necessary to correct or ameliorate. " So my question to other group members: Are you required to annually re-certify your child's chronic brain-injury? If not, what are your requirements? Thanks. -- Freels 2948 Windfield Circle Tucker, GA 30084-6714 770-491-6776 (phone) 404-725-4520 (cell) 815-366-7962 (fax) mailto:dfreels@... http://www.freelanceforum.org/df
